91.5 on the air

Todd, did I read that correctly? You prefer a SMALLER playlist?

"Less Variety, No Talk"...I just don't think they could sell that!

"91.5 is Redundant Radio!"...Nope, don't see that working either.

"The no repeat 45 minutes!"...No, that's lacking something.

"Your station for all the best of September through Novmber 1983" would be a good one.

I'll keep working on it.

Guess that means they should shelve the idea of adding Country, Classical, and Techno into the mix of songs. I was kind of hoping for some Weird Al. Would be nice if they had some form of DJs, or Jingles, etc. This is starting to get like listening to my own collection of music (except my collection is much bigger of course).

Of course having said that he may go for an ALL TALK format, and then I'll be saying, "Now why'd ya go a do a thing like that for?" ;)

I've noticed quite a few new songs and have really enjoyed it. They were definitely getting stale.

I also appreciate the freshening of the music. Robb said he was going to to that, and he followed through. I'd like to think this could be taken as some sort of indicator that they're committed to the format. (I know, I know, it's a non-com...)

As for CatFM's observation about Rupert Holmes, I can fully agree with that one, too. There are a few others they play that make me gag as well, e.g. pablum like "Seasons in the Sun" and "I'm Easy." That said, overall their music is still immensely listenable compared to other stations in town....as long as they don't stoop to playing "Afternoon Delight" or Bette Midler saptunes as TED did in its early months.

It just seems like everytime I flip over I hear an unfamiliar song ( to me ). So, I actually flip about 75% less now. Maybe it's just me.

I guess that would be a problem if you're used to a station that plays the same artist 3 times an hour. (Third Day)

Hey, I sympathize with Todd -- if you hear something and you don't know who it's by and there's no deejay or station website to tell you who it's by, then yeah, that's a little disconcerting, and a lot of people finding themselves in that situation much of the time are understandably going to tune in less. This ironically wouldn't be a problem with the non-hit format I wish I could propose in detail to Mr. Case, because ... well, if I told you, that would spoil the surprise! The surprise that's got about a 0.005% chance of happening.
And xiradiodotcom, your "stale" complaint is always going to be there, because sooner or later people are going to grow weary of those "few new songs" as well. But again, not a problem with my proposal! I'd love to explain why, but that would spoil the surprise -- the surprise that now looks like it's got about a 0.0049999% chance of happening.
Yeah, I should just call it a 0% chance, since the end of March has passed. But my gut instinct tells me that the fellow really hasn't made his mind up yet. Maybe he was about to decide but then suddenly Don Imus became available, and so that makes it a whole new ballgame now.

Ouch. Trust me...I listen to alot of radio and I find myself flipping to 91.5 and then flipping away more often than not.

Well, different strokes, etc. The arguement about how tight a playlist should be will never be settled. At least, not in my lifetime. Personally, I like 91.5. It's earned a preset on my car radio, but I don't flip away that often.

It's April 20th and I still heard a Christmas song today... LMAO! Come on Robb, get with the program. 91.5 is getting a little boring for me.

Maybe it's a contest: Hear a Christmas song and you win if you're the 91st caller. But it's a hidden contest since this is a non-com.

Actually, I haven't heard a Christmas song in AT LEAST a month, and I have 91.5 on all day some days. I guess you, um, lucked out. Anyway, this is certainly no worse than the gaffes some supposedly commercial stations pull (are you listening, WYTS)?

And hey, we ARE only two weeks away from the infamous "Cinqo de Christmas" holiday that 93.3 threw up on everyone's calendar ;)

I have another bone to pick with 91.5. Maybe, just maybe Robb should consider using some different software other than WinAmp because hearing 3 Madonna songs within 20 minutes seems like just a bit too much umm Madonna.

I was hoping he would start streaming over the internet, but with the hike in Sound Exchange royalty fees and being non-comm that most likely won't happen. Guess I won't be listening to 91.5 at work. :(

Is he really using Winamp to broadcast?

Well,

For those who thought the playlist was stale, (I am included, it got pretty bad...) We got our wish, since early Sunday morning. A new ID voice and an overhauled playlist. LOTS of new music, moslty early to middle 80's. I have only heard a few off the old playlist. and they were good ones, and I have had it on for 3 hours. The TOH ID has been missing for the last two hours as well.

Hmmm... Wonder what is around the corner? I was on 104 last week, and a Cutlass passed me with a K-LOVE 91.5 bumper sticker on it. I was looking at the tower and thinking how ironic that COULD be... I hope not. The car had Ohio tags but it was 15 years old, so who knows where that sticker came from.

Hopefully he has been listening.

I checked the K-LOVE website, but nothing listed in Columbus, and nothing with 91.5 in Ohio. So, how much does it cost to run a radio station for 5 plus months, when you can't run commercials. Must be eating into someones savings account. ;)

Very true..

But when your plane runs out of gas on the test flight and you have to land it on 270, then you sue the dealer who did not fill it up, then you win, that account gets pretty big. That happened a long time ago, but he did not come out that bad. God love him, maybe it is just his hobby, and we are all the benefactors. I hope so. He seems like a stand-up guy. All I know is I am gonna enjoy it as long as he lets us. Which, for what it is worth, I hope is forever.. ;D
