That positioner would become available if the whole news operation is at a common location: 1010/92.3 -- at least until Audacy punts on 1010.Nope. WCBS calls itself "Newsradio 880."

WCBS-880 will probably go Bet QL in the near future.
When urban formats are formats targetting groups who have been ignored I get why people would be upset. However the urban stations here are all different.there are 3 or 4 urban stations with dismal ratings, one can take the format and do it right, but is it taboo to flip an urban format for fear of protests...notice a country and rock station bit the dust, the country with better ratings then the urbans.....
Exactly. Country, just as most genres are, is also a lifestyle/aesthetic. An aesthetic that is nearly non-existent in NYC. Don't think most New Yorkers resonate with an overwhelmingly conservative genre/aesthetic.lack of lifestyle compatibility.
Country needs to change it's tune quite literally racism isn't okay and it never was. Keeping artists like Morgan Wallen on after what he said and the lack of diversity is an issue. Hell even rock has a diversity problem.Exactly. Country, just as most genres are, is also a lifestyle/aesthetic. An aesthetic that is nearly non-existent in NYC. It’s FAR from taboo. It’s called ‘does it make business sense.’ And right now, blowing up an urban that still bills well for a format that’s done poorly in the last two attempts is NOT smart business sense.there are 3 or 4 urban stations with dismal ratings, one can take the format and do it right, but is it taboo to flip an urban format for fear of protests...notice a country and rock station bit the dust, the country with better ratings then the urbans.....
Urban stations flip all the time. KYW-FM was an Urban station. WMRQ in Hartford flipped to Urban and then flipped back to Alternative a few years later. When urban formats are formats targetting groups who have been ignored I get why people would be upset. No.I wonder if Beasley is buying a station in NYC at some point?
Also to note 99.5 WBAI was off the air today. Maybe someone will buy it and put rock on it?

When did that occur? Just curious.
Unlikely that any major group would buy a stand-alone station in NYC.I wonder if Beasley is buying a station in NYC at some point? Also to note 99.5 WBAI was off the air today. Maybe someone will buy it and put rock on it?
Country is an almost entirely non-Hispanic white format. How is that supposed to change? Diversity is acceptance of different races, cultures, ethnicities and gender identities, not the adoption of the cultures of one by all the others.Country needs to change it's tune quite literally racism isn't okay and it never was. Keeping artists like Morgan Wallen on after what he said and the lack of diversity is an issue. Hell even rock has a diversity problem.
Alt 92.3 host Brady said that he was informed of the change on Friday.Friday. Here's the story. Apparently that was when the WNYL staff was told about today.

There will be parallels to what happened in Los Angeles a number of years ago to KFWB.
