Atlanta's Getting Wild

I'm really upset that maverick is the PD....was excited about wild changing their name....but when I heard them play Missing You by puffy...it was very clear that this is 95.5 The Beat v 2.0...oh well so much for a different station....maverick is gonna ruin this station

Maverick is the interim PD. I don't believe he's going to be the long term person and it's said he has no authority to call any shots. Supposedly there is an OM hired and coming to town who will be that guy. We'll see.

Well that is some good news and I hope you're right. All I want is ONE, just ONE really good station in Atlanta. Star94's playlist is still confused, Q100 - although better than it used to be lately - overall is still a mess, and WiLD has a lot of potential with it being new. Please Clear Channel, I'm begging you to turn this into a great station (similar to WiLD 94.9 in San Francisco)!

Oh, and it looks like they no longer play Pitbull - Hey Baby. WTF... 2 steps forwards, 4 steps backwards = state of Atlanta radio.

You guys are saying you hope Wild doesn't become the new Beat. Well, the objective is exactly to turn Wild into the new Beat. The Beat had a large audience that was displaced. If I were CC, I'd be doing the same thing.

Music wise, 95.5 The Beat was too late on new music. It seems as if after 97.1 JAMZ died, THE BEAT was trying to be the 3rd Urban station. Maybe that is the plans at WiLD considering Rhythmic and Urban isn't new to Clear Channel Atlanta.

Exactly, they were way too late on new music and didn't even play some popular songs at all. Yes, a large audience was displaced and it made sense for Clear Channel to turn The Groove into a rhythmic station which is now the new WiLD. What we are saying (or at least what I am saying) is we hope the new WiLD will be much better than 95.5 The Beat.

I'm giving up on this station; if they want to go rhythmic then they could go rhythmic if they want. I was hoping they would go for the top 40/CHR direction. But it is what it is.

Good luck to WiLD... you're gonna need it.

I knew they were going to go rhythmic, but I never thought that the playlist would be messed up this badly to the point where some songs are repeating twice WITHIN one hour (outside of mixshow or countdown scheduling) and others are "mysteriously disappearing" then coming back and all kinds of craziness. I'm trying to keep my hopes up, but it seems like things have gone a bit haywire this week. I doubt that what's going on was enough to be overly noticeable and make the average listener tune out on a massive scale, but that still doesn't "make it right". It's worse when you look at the fact that out of ALL formats, this would of course have to happen in the rhythmic or chr category. Everything started off sounding great and getting better. Then, suddenly this week, it seems like the songs are being randomly played from a messed up itunes playlist that somebody's sibbling "interfered with".

Of course, I am not losing ALL hope for or giving up on the station now, based on the fact that I know there are currently a series of minor changes taking place, but I'd just like to see some stability brought back - even if this means continuing The Beat sound. I just want to be able to have faith that this time around, the format will be taken seriously and remain (musically) stable. It's not like I'm keeping my hopes up for some odd, unusual format. This is rhythmic radio, which I believe is a reasonable format to be concerned and have wishful thoughts about as a future listener. It doesn't matter what I do / used to do, or that I could do/program/make my own music (and who says that this is what I'm still going to want to be doing in Atl?). Sometimes, as a radio fanatic, I like to put all things aside and just sit back myself and listen to my favorite (local, non satellite or HD) station(s) serve me with my favorite music just like the other hundreds of people in their cars and homes.

I do have one question about Wild 105.7. Why is it that every time I turn on the station, Airplanes is playing? Is that song even still on the charts?

It's ridiculous. If this station is still around 2 years from now, they will probably still be playing Airplanes nonstop. I don't know if it is because they are in the process of getting a new PD or what, but this station is over the top repetitive (worse than The BEAT was) and I hope this is only temporary. If you look at other rhythmic stations, their playlists are much less tight (most have at least 150 songs compared to WiLD's 94 songs) and they are quick with adding new music.

I think the bigger question is why do we always get screwed here in Atlanta? Is the market really that drastically different here compared to all the other top 20 markets? I just find it hard to believe.

Also, assuming they do it right and this station does get popular, does anyone think Clear Channel will make some switches? For example, moving Wild to 96.1 and Project to 105.7?

Hopefully Pitbull & T-Pain and whatever else is missing today is re-added back tomorrow, or tonight into tomorrow, just like it was brought back Tuesday night into Wednesday. The Pitbull & T-Pain "hey baby" is pretty much played every other day now. One day it's in high rotation, then next day it's no where to be found...

If WiLD succeeds, Clear Channel will to pick the strongest signal of 94.9, 96.1, 96.7, 105.3, and/or 105.7. They need to be ONE station. But as of now, WiLD 94.9 in SF is the HOTTEST station and I can't see the WiLD in ATL to get there anytime soon.... Whhhattt? They still have Elvis Duran??!?

You know what's the biggest problem with station? Melissa Forest. She wants to program all radio station... She does not let PDs do their job, but she'll be gone soon, I know it.

remember it's still new. alot of "tweakage" is going on now. they are doing ALOT of evaluations with music "callbacks" Surveys etc.Give it time. They may WANT to be The Beat 2.0 for now to Pull in these former listeners. then Evlove to Show the listeners what a Good Rhythmic Station should sound like. Very tight playlists are normal for new stations. I was in ATL about a week ago and listened to WiLD I heard Usher Hot Tottie and DJ got Us about 2-3 during that day. So they are not gone from the playlist. Heard "Teenage Dream" like 10 times that day though. One of my current favs "just a dream" Nelly played 3 times. They added Kesha "We R who we R" pretty quick. I think WiLD will be better Evolved by new years.
