b1079 now mix 1079

WIXM is available as of this writing.

WCMX is taken by an AM religious station in Massachusetts (Hope 1000), but if Saga could gain permission to use WCMX-FM, that would be a great fit. At the same time, with the call letters being something that you can bury in a late-in-the-hour stopset, they don't particularly have a need to change the calls from WODB.

Looks like WXMI is also available

Every once an a while between the songs, I hear a voice indicate that the Mix didn't go away, but just moved to a new address, so to speak. This seems to say to me that not only the music is going to be there, but the DJs from 97.1 as well. I too would think that would mean the B-107-9 staff is out as well. So to make it fair, WBNS-AM should take over the former B-107-9 format and offer to take on its staff. Having the same content on an FM and AM station in the same area is kind of waste.

Steve Kelly remains on Sunny 95 from 2 to 7 p.m.

Dave Kaye is the voice behind the Mix image breaks and is still heard on many commercials on Sunny.

Can't speak about the other two.

I wouldn't be so sure about the personalities. I think they're just trying to glom onto the "Mix...80's. 90's. Now" equity while it's still fresh in the minds of 97.1 listeners who might make their way up the dial. That's not to say some of the old Mix personalities might not still end up at 107.9, but without a signal-improvement strategy even a strong performance by ODB will fall well short of 97.1's lackluster (for a big signal) ratings of the last year. Anyway, there is one -- and only one -- BNS-FM personality I hope NEVER to hear on the radio again (or even in person). I can't believe that personality was ever allowed on the air to begin with.

Well they're already using "themix1079.com" My guess is that if they can pick up some cool call letters that they might infuse those into the mix, pun intended.

Well, hopefully they can come up with a better url than "themix1079.com," since they don't call themselves The Mix. Anyway, overall I'm really impressed with how Saga is handling this flip thus far. All aspects. Much better, and more "on the ball" than I've come to expect of Columbus operators. But I wonder if their expectations are realistic relative to the signal...or if they've got something in mind involving the new and stronger move-ins.

They do also say "This is the mix." Or "The Mix is on." So it's safe to keep the URL but they still have some more work to do. They are getting much better, but is still not as young as the old Mix was.

Has anyone else noticed we have THREE less local morning shows on the air now then 45 days ago? 99.7, 97.1 and now 107.9? Of course, 107.9 will have a local show but this shows there is a least a "Shake Up" in Cbus
radio now. Do you foresee any more surprises?

Would make an incredible amount of sense for good-signal WLZT, but the way CC/Columbus operates their "non-Big-3" stations there ain't a snowball's chance in hell.  This is one case where I'd love to see my prediction proven wrong.  But it won't be.

Interestingly, they also sometimes use 97.1's original and longtime positioner, which I believe 97.1 gave up when they switched to to Mix. Namely, "More Music, More Variety."

Funny, I think they're getting much better because they're playing more older music.  Hmmm, could this be because I'm older than you?  Anyway, Columbus is long overdue for an edgier pop/pop-rock good-signal station that plays lots of 80's and 90's stuff.  And no, not as edgy is Alice in Chains or even Rush like the Brew! (Note that "good signal" automatically excludes ODB, anyway.)

Well... nah just kidding. Let's see what they do first and in a few weeks, we'll return to the board and state our opinions. I personally do think it will skew older as long as Tony from Sunny is programming it. When he leaves, maybe the next programmer will like the younger idea. I say they use this as a poll on themix1079.com ;D

Just heard a cluster of commercials. Guess the commercial free 5000 songs is over. Although I did hear traffic reports this morning, I haven't heard any DJs and the website (last I checked) hadn't listed any DJs names.
