Beyonce Country Project

However, the decision was made by the voters, based on this criterion:

The record label entered the album and set the category. Music from the music was played in many other formats. But this was the only format where the album was nominated.

Here are the other albums in the category:

BEST COUNTRY ALBUM

Beyoncé - “Cowboy Carter”

Post Malone -“F-1 Trillion”

Kacey Musgraves -“Deeper Well”

Chris Stapleton - “Higher”

Lainey Wilson - “Whirlwind”
Ridiculous. Cody Johnson's "Leather" ran rings around this bunch. So did Luke Combs' "Fathers and Sons." And what's the Malone album doing there? I thought NARAS always nominated based on perceived superior artistic merit coupled with a dollop of virtue signaling, which explains all but "F-1 Trillion." Posty's mishmash of an album was largely duets, with his collaborators doing most of the heavy lifting.

Here are the detailed qualifications for Best Country Album:

BEST COUNTRY ALBUM FOR ALBUMS - VOCAL OR INSTRUMENTALSCREENING CRITERIA For albums containing 75% new recordings and 51% country. This Category recognizes country music recordings, both vocal and instrumental, which utilize a stylistic intention, song structure, lyrical content and /or musical presentation to create a sensibility that reflects the broad spectrum of country music style and culture. The intent is to recognize country music that remains reminiscent of its culture’s legacy while also engaging contemporary forms that “push the boundaries” but still are relevant in the collective country music culture.

I think Beyonce knew what she was doing. She made this album aiming to satisfy these qualifications. She may have said it wasn't a country album. But at the same time, she addressed the things that made it country from her perspective.

Also, all voting members of the Academy are allowed to vote in all genre categories. The only categories they can't vote in are craft categories.

The Grammy award nominations make me sick! No sign of "Blue Over You" from Mason Ramsey or the new album from the Sawyer Brown band and it was produced by Blake Shelton!

God bless you and him and the band and Mason always!!!

Holly

It will be absolute travesty if that were to win. It wasn't a country album, she said so herself.
A Travesty? The Grammys haven't been relevant in 30 years. Jethro Tull won in the Hard Rock/Metal category one year. Milli Vanilli was another Grammy Winner that turned into a debacle.

The Grammys rarely reward true musicianship or worthiness. It's almost always been style over substance...

The first year that category existed.

Did they honor the real singers, though? Just because the pretty boys made all the public appearances, that didn't mean anything if it was an award for recorded music.

I only had to hear five seconds of Susan Tedeschi to know she, not Britney, deserved to win.

One can say similar things regarding style vs. substance about many of the major entertainment awards. This is all about "style" as you say... and in most cases it involves the often-divorced-from-reality voting of members of the community which creates music, movies, television shows and the like.

Years ago I wondered why the movies my wife and I most liked never won Oscars. We decided that our goal in selecting a movie to view was to escape for 90 minutes or so from our world of broadcast management by entering some kind of world of fantasy. On the other hand, the voting members of the industry seemed to value the obtuse and the esoteric. For several years, we found that every film that won an award about its story line was one we did not enjoy.

It is rather amusing to compare the Peoples Choice Awards in music, TV and film with industry insider awards.

In music, there are so many styles and types of music that about the only reasonable criteria has to be based on sales, an indication of "popularity". At least the awards shows are entertaining as we can see such a variety of styles and appearances. Still, with an exception or two based on public consensus, we are witnessing what the industry thinks about the industry.

But, just like American Top 40, people love rankers and lists and awards.

So far, Beyonce has won a Grammy in the Country category. She won Best Country Performance for a Duo or Group for her duet with Miley Cyrus.

Beyonce is also nominated for Best Country Album, and that category will be handed out tonight on TV.

Maybe next year Taylor Swift can win a Grammy for Best Heavy Metal Album. To use a British slang word, The Grammys have become total Shite...

So, she was just given the Grammy award for Best Country Album. I look forward to when Alison Krauss is on that stage next year where she belongs. :) :) :)

God bless you and Alison and Beyonce always!!!

Holly (a fan of Alison since 1994)

Congrats BigA. Your girl finally won the award(s) she deserves for the genre.

^^^ Have you heard what Mason Ramsey brings to the musical barbecue yet?

God bless you and him always!!!

Holly (a girl who only loves him more every day)

P.S. Yummy, yum, yum!!! :) :) :)

^^^ I was wanting to know if you have heard any of the music that comes from Mason Ramsey. To me, he is the one keeping real country music alive and kicking these days. :) :) :)

God bless you and him always!!!

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but does anyone here know if Dolly Parton submitted her rock album for any of the non country Grammy awards?

God bless you and Dolly always!!!

Holly
