My original comment had less to do with Sileo and more to do with the notion that Marc James claims to be the only person who has flourished when leaving Tampa sports radio.
Todd Wright and the Sports Babe are two examples of local names in the 90s reaching ESPN. Duemig had a show on Fox, not to mention several years on the Golf Channel while still working here. Rob D'Amico wasn't even doing sports radio here but he's hosted an auto racing show on Fox for six or seven years now. There are several other people who have gone on to work for local sports teams (or teams in other markets) as pre and post game hosts, and others have gone on to do work with Sirius/XM. I also know of some "behind the scenes" people who have moved on to bigger markets, bigger shows, and big networks. Some of these people I mentioned hit their pinnacle in the past, but it's still (in my opinion) a much bigger "flourish" than doing PM drive on a low-rated sports talker (and the only sports talker at that) in a smaller market.
And as for Sileo, TRUST ME... I never was and never will be a fan, for many of the same reasons people have expressed on this board previously. But his employer just brought him on board the post game show for the Hurricanes' broadcast. If someone is "searching for a replacement", that's not a move they do. Dan is not the brightest of talk show hosts, but he's made some smart moves to remain relevant despite his content doing the exact opposite. I don't think he's going anywhere any time soon.
