Changes ahead for 700 WLW Mid-day Lineup??!!???

To get back to WLW.....

If Scott Sloan gets the gig I won't be listening. I've tried to warm up to him for years and just can't. Don't know what it is but his style just puts me off. And he's just not very interesting or insightful. McConnell's common sense, non-theatrical approach in which he quickly cuts through the crap is a much needed commodity in the world of talk radio. Many times did he make me say out loud to myself "good point." Sloan has never had that effect on me. To quote someone else in this thread I believe, Sloan seems to babble incessantly. That's been my impression of him since day one.

I haven't had a chance to hear Jeff Katz filling in but I remember liking him quite a lot when he was on the Cincinnati airwaves years ago. I'm hoping they'll go out of the market and bring in some new blood.....or new old blood in the case of Jeff Katz. Nobody in the WLW bullpen strikes me as strong enough to fill those midday slots permanently.

But then again: Who else does Premiere syndicate that ISN'T based at a CC station? Most of the entertainment programs Premiere syndicates are not produced by them and aren't based at CC stations, or in several cases any station. Years ago when Fox Sports Radio's personalities were scattered everywhere they would be broadcasting from non CC stations, such as Jorge Sedano who was at Lincoln Financial Media's WAXY.

Even better: Jorge Sedano was doing his overnight Fox Sports Radio show from Miami at CC's WINZ studios, even though the FSR affiliation (and Jorge's show) was on cross town Lincoln Financial's WAXY! Jorge did Miami HEAT pre- and post game for WINZ's sister WIOD. People say there are few markets wackier than Miami, and I guess this proves it.

New clocks out from Premiere to coincide with McConnell's departure from The Weekend.

Departure?? I find it interesting that the jpg is still labeled "Mike McConnell" in its file name. I wonder why corporate CC and wouldn't let Mike finish his contract in Cincy.
FWIW, McConnell was on the "Weekend" today, with a different phone number. Maybe he was working from "parts unknown".

McConnell mentioned that Paul Mason was still running the board. CC owns Premiere, so I don't get the boundaries.

??

I don't get it either. Other than there is no love between CC and Tribune.

Where did you hear him out of curiosity? Was he still on WLAP or WHAS? (I'm in Knoxville...no local or regional affiliate)

I listened to his show on WOOD AM on line out of Michigan. I am in Washington State, so I have always podcasted his show. It will probably be on Sunday at KNEW. There are a few other stations on line that play his show on Sunday.

It's already been said Katz is doing morning drive in Boston! He's not coming to Cincy!

Not a big Sloan fan but I suspect he would grow on me over a reasonable time frame.

Not that I am a typical listener, but I feel there is a bit of what I can only call a generation gap with Sloan. Some of his views and humor strike this old timer as a tad juvenile. Much the same way I feel about Mo Egger.

I realize that might well be a good thing for WLW as most experts don't seem to think my business is as valuable as a young man's.

I get that even though I think that is crazy in that I have a lot more discretionary income than I did as a young man and I spend it! I also vote and WLW is loaded with political ads and various pitches by advocacy groups.

He's still heard on 84WHAS...

As for where he broadcasted from assuming he's persona non grata at the CC-Kenwood offices: I'm starting to wonder if perhaps WQRT didn't let him in at 19 Broadcast Plaza to do his show from there, seeing as Sloan was on WLW at the same time...it's possible. Unlikely, but possible.

It says "Effective July 10th" inside the image and has a different Weekend logo. I don't know why they didn't change the file name.
