Cleveland TV Revolving Door

Kelly Kennedy has left WOIO/19 and WUAB/43 earlier this month, while Matt Rascon has left WKYC/3 last week. I know that Matt is heading back to Houston, while Kelly has yet to announce where she will end up.

And I think WCLQ 61 had dropped the subscription service and became fully independent around the same time.
WCLQ dropped Preview back in 1983, and 61 became 24-hours as an independent soon after. The station became Home Shopping in 1986 and losing out in the ratings to WUAB and even WOIO, along with having financial issues.

WCLQ's owners overpaid badly for syndicated shows like Dallas reruns and yet were immediately shown up by WOIO when they launched. The sale to HSN was punctuated by multiple distributors suing them for unpaid bills. It was not uncommon in the industry especially after the program market contracted.

I think a lot of station managers were surprised at how quickly WOIO was able to established itself after its launch. I don't think WCLQ expected 19 to upstage them. WBNX going on the air also didn't help 61 either. When Home Shopping arrived, both 19 and 55 got a major boost.
