The assumption is that given the choice between internet radio and broadcast, listeners will chose internet. Yet with 67% broadband penetration, and most in-work listening coming from the computer, most people still choose their familiar broadcast station, via stream, over all the other less familiar choices.
I wonder if they could work out a deal whereas they could air it first run on TBS and then syndicate it, maybe like a day behind (or a week behind or whatever) to local stations? Remember in the early days of FOX how, "It's Gary Shandling's Show" was aired on Showtime then later in the week on FOX.

If I recall correctly, Shandling's show was well established on Showtime before it started airing on Fox. I just posted a day's worth of listings in the Classic TV subforum on a day in 1988 when Fox aired a Showtime comedy special starring Shandling, which had originally aired in 1985.

I believe both of you are confusing It's Garry Shandling's Show on FOX with his later Larry Sanders Show on Showtime. Shandling's own self-titled show was on FOX on Sunday evenings in the late '80s, while Sanders came sometime later.DToTheJ said:
To be clear, I'm not against Conan going to cable just I wish it wasn't TBS for reasons that I've previously stated. I get that the Fox affiliates not wanting to take a chance on Conan after what had happen with Tonight and also over saturated the market with late night talk in the process. It seem to me at the time that Fox was where he was most likely do his next show at. I never thought that his next home would be TBS.

I work in an office with about 150 employees, and there is no policy against using the internet - many of us need to use if for work, and our HR and Finance systems are internet based. But the IT department has pleaded with us to please not stream anything for more than a few minutes because it uses too much bandwidth. If you want to listen to music in your office, they suggest you bring in some other source - ipod, a CD player, radio, or whatever.
Conan could have gone to the worst piece of crap station you could imagine. True fans will just be glad that he's back. If you have that much of a problem with him being on TBS, than just record the show and watch it at 12:30 right after you watch Leno. You can pretend that he's still on NBC. It will be just like old times again ;-)

The first was called It's Garry Shandling's Show and it was on Showtime from 1986 to 1990. I thought it was hysterical.

With networks like Hallmark and TVLAND changing their schedules seemingly everyday print tv listings whether in the local newspaper or in that crappy waterdowned version of tv guide are obsolete. at least the on screen guide and even the TV Guide Network the listings are updated with-in one day.
As mentioned in the "Garry Shandling Show" article, the show also ran Sunday nights on Fox in that network's early days. And as not mentioned in the "Larry Sanders" article, that show had a short run (weekends only, I believe) in syndication a few years back but I think only lasted a year or two. I remember it aired on the cable only WB 100+ stations (now the CW+ stations) which air on cable and as digital subchannels in most cases.Mark said:
