CUMULUS keeps ignoring "Super Bass" !

SUPER BASS is now at no4 on the national CHR chart and still no sign of the song on CUMULUS CHRs like KRBE, Q100, the Vibe, WWCK, KMCK, WZYP, KBEA, WAOA, WHHY, WHOT, KQXY etc!!!! WTF!!!

The first two straddle the line between hot AC and CHR. Star 100.7, OTOH, is CHR. Having Wiz Khalifa and Lupe Fiasco on the list qualifies as CHR to me.

Also on Star 100.7 they are playing "Don't You Wanna Stay" by JASON ALDEAN and KELLY CLARKSON along side with Wiz and Lupe.

Don't You Wanna Stay is #47 on the CHR chart - seems like a CHR to me

Mix 106.5/WWMX is playing Super Bass, The Show Goes On, Give Me Everything, etc., even In Da Club...sounds like CHR to me. Adult friendly, but definitely CHR. I can't believe they stay on the Hot AC panel....can they be moved to a different panel without request/doing it themselves?

Star 100.7/WBZZ is pretty much the same. It's notable that Pittsburgh does still have a Hot AC, Q92.9/WLTJ.

I really haven't heard it on any CHR. Only on country, AC, and Hot AC stations

I mean, it's CBS - they have Rhythmics reporting to CHR, CHRs reporting to Hot AC, and Hot ACs reporting to AC - and in most cases, Mediabase/BDS don't question it

SXM Hits 1 was playing it rather consistently back in March and April but I haven't heard it on any other CHR's since then, and Country stations have obviously moved on to "Dirt Road Anthem".

Guys, why does it matter whether you've heard a song personally on a CHR? It's #47 on the pop chart, with 600+ plays, so there are a significant number of CHRs playing it - at least enough stations so that it's not "Hot AC-exclusive"

I don't think it personally matters if we have heard the hit or not- as I think we have all spent enough time posting that some of our CHRs or favorite CHRs don't play certain songs.

I was surprised that "Don't You Wanna Stay" wasn't a bigger hit. It certainly sounds appropriate for CHR. Its a big name artist dueting with a rising star (even if he is a country star). I was simply pointing out that Hits 1 was playing this song months ago, and if anything, more CHRs should have been on this song.

It seems like the "good old days" when songs could bubble under the charts for a while, or even get a re-release to CHR after a less than stellar first run, are sadly gone. This complaint really belongs in your topic about powerplays and overrotation, though.

I'm not sure it was ever promoted to CHR - I don't remember it ever going for adds, but I might have missed it

"Super Bass" is coming in at #4 on Mediabase's Top 40 with a very strong bullet now. This song has the potential to reach the #1 spot. It would be noteworthy if this song failed to reach #1 because Cumulus has almost ignored it.

Well one thing we can all clearly see is that Atlanta is no longer the bass capital of the world.
Too bad people in Miami stopped making Miami bass, or else I would've given the bass crown to Miami!

I guess Nicki Minaj gets the award for best bass hit of the year by default since everyone else seems to have jumped on the house and electro-pop trend! Maybe one day booty bass will come back. I'm dying to start a "is booty bass coming back?" thread! ;D

"Super Bass" is somewhat of a poor example of what modern bass music should be like, but... I guess I really have no other choice but to like it because it's the only current record that resembles booty bass out right now! I hope its success will cause other people/producers to go back to creating modern bass, breaks, and freestyle type beats instead of everything being all house beats all the time.

4% of you here probably know what I'm talking about.

The song is at no4 on CHR with huge increases. The whole Top3 in front of it is decreasing. What KRBE, Q100, KCHZ, WWCK, KMCK, WZYP, KBEA, WAOA, WHHY, WHOT, KQXY and the rest Cumulus CHRs have to say about this? NOT EVEN ONE SPIN ON THOSE CHANNELS!

The song's in light rotation at KBEA B-100 in the Quad Cities (Davenport)

Not really, unless they are giving it overnight spins. The only time I've heard it is during OHP or the Friday & Saturday night mix shows.

Strange thing is that have been a few other hits besides "Super Bass" that Cumulus has completely ignored altogether. (and I mean, years later...STILL NEVER play)

Here a few off top of my head: (at least, the Cumulus-flagship, Q100 here in Atlanta never played these...EVER)!

....(And...no, hearing it on "The Billy Bush Show" doesn't count)...lol

TOP 10 hits that were never played:
Metro Station's "Shake It"

Jay-Z' s "Empire State Of Mind" (CRAZY that this instant classic, at this point has musically become a national anthem.....yet, to this day....Q100 never ONCE played this)

Nicki Minaj - "Super Bass"

probably more songs...but, anyway.

A few Top 20 hits that were never played:
3OH3!' s "Starstrukk" f/Katy Perry [BTW: and me personally...this is such a great song! I don't even know why]...lol!
Selena Gomez - "Who Says"
Martin Solveig - "Hello"
Edward Maya - "Stereo Love"
David Guetta - "Where Dem Girls At"
LMFAO - "I'm In Miami Trick"

(Good lord....my list would be too long if I kept going)....You get the idea, tho.

So, that's what so crazy that I've been saying on here for YEARS (on the Atlanta-Boards). Q100...supposedly a Top-40/CHR station, in the #7 market of Atlanta....never touched these and so many other (HIT) songs.

Thank god for the ability to stream stations online...pretty sad, when markets like Augusta, Mobile, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and Greenville, SC have way better sounding CHRs than Atlanta....and most of those markets have two!

OKAY...anyway....I'm done.

(by the way, who's box of soap was this again)

Why not? ??? It's a nightly 5 hour show, not just something your hear once on the weekend.
Besides, there are plenty of CHRs that daypart some records, and will only air them at night.

As such, your list isn't completely accurate. Q-100 definitely played Edward Maya quite a bit during evenings, and it also recently added David Guetta's "Where Them Girls At"

I totally respect what yer saying, CHRles. However...trust me, that any local-insert that Q100 plays during the "Billy Bush Show"...is DEF NOT going to be one of those songs I mentioned. Besides if Q100 did locally insert any of them, then why have they NEVER even played during Q's overnights, Saturday/Sundays etc? (or any other daypart...for that matter)

What I've come to realize is that when you hear, songs like....Kris Allen's "Live Like We're Dying", John Mayer's "Heartbreak Warfare", Nickleback's "If Today Was Your Last Day", etc..........(STILL PLAYING EVERY DAY EVEN AS WE APPROACH 2012??......
...oh, man....that would def have to be from Q100!  ::)

It's just so STALE to hear (sometimes) 2 to 3 AC/Hot-AC songs like those an hour on a major market CHR....ya'know?

CHR radio in Atlanta...should not be playing "Heartbreak Warfare" or "No Surprise" as you're heading into the awesome cityscape of Atlanta to go out for the night (or whatever). It's insane!

BTW: CHRles....(hehe) I'm not lashing back at your reply, personally (of course). I've always liked yer input on here over the years. Just really been passionate about this topic...(almost obsessively) for a LONG time.

(And I keep jumping on the first soapbox about I can find.....I realize that) ;D
