HA... so will the morning show on KVET now, but I'm not getting into that any more.

This has nothing to do with KVET. I can't believe you guys are still bashing it a year after the change.

It must be off the air completely. I am driving to SA from Austin right now- I'm just south of New Braunfels and I am still picking up KNCT Simply Beautiful 91.3

I just heard on KLMR 106.3, the San Antonio K-Love station 91.3 is off the air due to Copper Theft.
No, K-Love will be back yeah!!

KNCT provides a needed broadcast service to an otherwise unserved audience. They provide music, news, local information, etc. And they are good at what they do. It may not be your cup of tea, but they are a top-notch local broadcaster.

That's all true. Next time I'll throw in a winking smiley so that everyone can understand.

I wonder how KNCT is getting their signal so far from Killeen almost down to SA.

I am about 30 miles south of Austin, I can pick them up most of the time. Sometimes K-Love in SA comes in depending on the weather.

I never had trouble picking it up at Metric and Braker either. Of course, that's north Austin and still within the 60 dBu signal contour, albeit barely. Almost all of Austin falls in the 54 dBu signal contour. In other words, pretty much everyone within the city limits of Austin should be able to get KNCT, but it's probably not listenable enough to be regularly used by anyone south of 183.

KZLV, on the other hand, has had several power increases over the last 20 years, but it still doesn't put a 60 dBu signal contour over all of San Antonio. The 54 dBu runs out just after crossing into the New Braunfels city limit on I-35.

I listen to KNCT at my home in South Austin. It's not the strongest signal on the dial, but I always get a lock.

KZLV may be off the air for a while. I am currently in the NE SA area by Live Oak/Forum area and KNCT is coming in very clearly on my radio.

If your in SA, I suggest trying to see If you can pick up KNCT 91.3 before KZLV comes back on the air.

That would be true over flat terrain. Austin is pretty hilly so your results may vary.

KZLV is back.

So how long does it take for sales to complete? They said mid November, its almost past mid November, still no change to the station.

I looks like they waited for the FCC to approve their(EMF) Main Studio Wavier before purchasing the station:

https://licensing.fcc.gov/cdbs/CDBS...?appn=101438954&qnum=5050&copynum=1&exhcnum=1

So, my guess is the FCC approved it(MSW) either today or yesterday and then EMF paid for the station today.

The Consummation of the sale was Nov 22 but the (EMF) Main Studio Wavier is not shown to be granted yet... Makes me wonder where they
are broadcasting from...

It might not be shown where you'd expect, but the main studio waiver (per section 73.1125 of the rules) was issued when the sale was approved on September 29th; the consummation has no bearing on that. Check paragraph two from the authorization: http://licensing.fcc.gov/prod/cdbs/pubacc/Auth_Files/1440697.pdf

I like listening to KNCT reminds me of the now defunct KQUE Houston, and the old KQXT back in the 80s.

I can hear Air1 on 103.1 in San Marcos. However in Austin its a different station, actually a translator for 1300 AM.

So what is willdav713 listening to?

Actually according to Radio-Info News Clear Channel Bought the EMF translator of Air 1 back in July it is now KVET-FM. Since then, I can't really pick it up in San Marcos but mainly in North West Austin over by the Domain. I was listening to the Air 1 briefly over the summer when flipping the dial.
