Ex-CBS-FM-MD Slams The New CBS-FM

The old CBS FM was a great station. So is the new one. The new one has bigger ratings.

Perception is reality... or maybe it isn't.

Except... in the 4 book average for 1998, CBS-FM had an Average Quarter Hour Persons 12+ 6AM-Mid of 115,000.

Today, CBS-FM has an AQH persons on average of 86,000.

In 1998 the rating was 0.8. Today it is 0.5.

In 1998, CBS-FM and WFAN were the highest billing stations in NYC. In the late 90s, CBS-FM and Lite-FM basically traded 1st and 2nd place in 25-54 ratings every quarter.

2011 and 1998 are two different worlds! Joe McCoy's CBS-FM of 1998 bears no resemblance to Brian Thomas' CBS-FM of 2011. :)

If CBS-FM wanted to target a 60 plus audience, it could have stayed exactly as it was prior to Jack. They along with every other former "oldies" station has adapted as needed.

Why do people find it necessary to slam successful radio stations? have you heard some of the mediocrity out there? Thank GOD for CBS-FM!

"Unofficially" there must be somewhat of an audience of 55-60+, otherwise the 50's or 60's would be eliminated from rotation, weekends included.

Did you consider the possibility that there are some 35-54 year olds that like the 50s and 60s stuff? CBS-FM has struck the perfect balance with their music, IMHO.

Sure, of course. I'm just trying to justify the 55+ crowd. It's great to know that many younger folks like the classics too.

a question from a non new yorker.does wcbs voicetrack?
Voicetracked with Joe Causi (Mon.-Fri. mornings) and Lenny Bloch (Sat. mornings) from Midnight-6am.
On Sunday mornings from Midnight-4am the syndicated show "Dick Clark Presents Rewind with Gary Bryan" airs followed by 2 hours of public affairs/infomercial programs.
