Format Changes 2024

I wonder why IHeart bought WWRL instead of WLIB a few years ago for their Black Information Network. I believe that WLIB has a better signal (and is lower down the AM dial), and there was not much difference in what they would have needed to pay for it.
Perhaps because BIN has so few listeners, it doesn't matter very much.
WWRL does now show up -- even with an 0.1 -- in the monthly 6+ ratings. I know it's a "prestige" project for iHeart to be sure BIN is on the air in New York. But even compared to the ill-fated Air America of 20 years ago, this has got to be an humbling showing.

With the punching out of the 1600 signal in the '90s. does it now cover more of the NY area cleanly than 1190??

Over the past 3 weeks in the morning. I have actually heard WXBX playing in Several stores 🏬 & Automotive shops 🏬 around South Eastern Bergen County N.J. Which I’m happy about. I have a few friends who enjoy 😊 the station. I hope it sticks around
It will----the demographics support it.We do not even see a Nassau County Country station like 94.3 years ago. There is no need for a Country station in many of the NYC environs.

It's interesting that though there is no longer a Country radio station in New York (except on an HD2), the Heartland Network, which primarily offers Country music oriented programming, leases a subchannel of WJLP TV.
Circle TV, which carries some Country music shows (though less than in the past) is on a subchannel of WCBS TV.

Circle is shutting down in a few days

XBX just hit a new low in the ratings so at least i can celebrate that.

Ohhh yea its XBK - see thats how anonymous the station is i still dont even know its name all the time.
WXBK is played a LOT here in Paterson. I've been to at least 12 delis scattered across the city and 4 stores inside Center City Mall that blare WXBK so loud that you can hear it a block (pun intended) away.

I always root against stations i dont listen to because theres always a chance they switch to a format i would listen to.
For the last time, this is not the fantasy board. Audacy TRIED Country, and it DIDN'T work. Cumulus tried as well, and it STILL didn't work.

This market is not a Country or Rock market. This is a RHYTHMIC market.

Somewhat of an exaggeration.
Q 104.3 was #2 in the current ratings for New York. Its share has been rising over the past few months.
The Q was #3 in M/S/U, and #6 on Long Island (the #1 slot there was occupied by WBAB).
