Houston area radio notes (update thread)

Mind blowing. So Hector decides to launch a talk-sports station on 880 instead of keeping or having one of his translators legal. Really shows the lack of interest to follow the rules. I think 106.1 is still on the air because i was able to hear it here in cypress for just a few seconds but for sure not as strong as it was a year ago. So as of now 94.1 is on 106.5 hd3 i think it is so that one is legal but 102.5, 99.5 ,104.5 and 106.5 dont have a primary signal (106.1) does till Sept 1.

Missing translators:

K291CE 106.1 has been off the air for ten days now.

Also noticed that K235CS 94.9 (KLVL translator) is also missing. Had been on a few days ago.

Has occurred to me that I haven’t heard anything out of K260DD 99.9 (KRCM) in quite a while.

Listened earlier and it’s a revival of LATINOS SPORT. Yes LATINOS SPORT, not LATINOS SPORTS.
Remember, in Spanish we generally refer to "sports" (plural) as "el deporte" (singular). So "Latino Sport" or "Latinos Sport" sounds better.

Better would be "Deportes" and the dial position, as in "Deportes 99" or similar. If you are broadcasting in Spanish, why is there a need to say that you are "Latino" as if that were not rather obvious!

I did get a chance to hear 106.1 maybe 5 days ago, but for sure running on very little power. I don't see them being able to get a new client to rent the station with the way it sounds now. I would say leasing an HD now will probably run you 3-5k . I could be mistaken, but was that translator not sold like 6 years ago for a bit over a million dls ?

They did modify their license to reduce power a few years ago. It's a bit mind boggling as to why, but I suppose they could always modify their license again to get back to the original 245 watts from downtown.

Translators 104.5 off the air, 102.5 off the air, 94.1 off the air.

La Nueva on 106.5 HD3 off the air.

Power 99.5 no issues here.
