Houston area radio notes (update thread)

Had a chance to hear 104.5 this morning and it seems they have moved to the same Gow studios. (share office space)
Brand new social media and brand new contact numbers.. not the best time to have to start from 0

Romance is playing dead air on both 106.1 and 102.5. La nueva is playing dead air on 96.1.

94.1, 104.5, 99.5 are fine.

The past couple of days I’ve noticed La Nueva 94.1 has reduced power to what I expect them to be at. I didn’t hear them in my car until just south of Exit 79 on I-45. I usually heard them up to Exit 90 until the other translator fully took over so I’m quite happy with that.

I believe 92.5 is also weaker.

Now, I'm not saying it's always been on the up and up, but it would seem plausible to me to have a signal capable of reaching up to Highway 242, with 99 watts emanating from the top of a downtown skyscraper. Especially with the directional aimed NNW.

That's Loop 336 in Conroe, right? Ok, now that's really pushing things. If it was a regular occurrence, I wonder why on earth did Eddie Esserman at KHVL in Huntsville not file a complaint? HEH has one of their own translators for "The Lake", at Lake Conroe, on 94.1.

I kind of think tropospheric conditions bear some of the responsibility for what you've experienced in recent months.

Past it, League Line Rd. Within K231DA’s 60 dBu contour. Wasn’t super noticeable interference at that location but was there. And I don’t know why they didn’t file the complaint I really love their station.

It wasn’t just recent months but recent YEARS.

The earlier KLVL thread got shut down, but this is to note that Dade Moore has withdrawn his informal objection to the sale of the station. His complaint dealt with the interference KLVL translator K235CS was causing to KILE-LP on 94.9. Now that K235CS is off the air, he states that the situation has been resolved.

Check out the attachment to the KLVL “opposition to objection” filing, which suggests a comedy of errors:

Well it was great while it lasted. La Nueva is stronger again and is back to interfering with The Lake in Conroe

Anyone else noticed that both 650 The Bet and ESPN 97.5 are running The Rich Eisen Show during middays? 650 has the show live 11-2 while 97.5 delays it an hour.

I would have thought the Eisen show would be gone from the BetMGM Network with its move to ESPN Radio. Perhaps burning off a contract?

I drove around Houston yesterday and I noticed that KMAZ-LP is barely heard on 610. Just certain spots. I used to hear them fairly well within 610 if I wasn't picking up a spanish 102.5. Also there was no sign of Romance on 610 from 45 north and past 69 like I usually hear. The Romance translator is on but keeps sounding like a CD is skipping.

I don't know if it was said but the 101.7 translator in Pasadena is also Sol Radio and not KGBC

Also when you do get to listen to the Romance translator sometimes it makes a loud dial up streaming sound. Like a buzz.

I was in the Atascocita area last week, and at one stop had a few minutes to tune around. I noticed that K273AL, which carries the Romance format in that part of the metro, had a lot of digital stutter. Seemed to be a feed problem. The audio I usually hear via co-channel KJFI doesn’t have that issue.

So I listen to La Mejor 104.5 FM here in Houston and they mention their Latino Max app like always.
I got curious and downloaded it, They have a few different stations options on the app. None that actually work.

They have one for La Calle K263AL and it’s silent.

Romance K258BZ, that one works.

Latino Sports KEYH-AM which is silent.

KJOZ listed as La MX Radio but has the same ROMANCE stream.

And La Nueva 94.1 which is working fine.

None carry La Mejor.

I downloaded the old one PLATINO MAX and none of the stations on that app work.
