Houston area radio notes (update thread)

iHeart making more cuts nationwide this week. Any Houston impact?

I do notice that the Sean Salisbury morning show is suddenly missing from the KBME 790 shows list on the station’s website, had been there earlier today. Also gone from the podcasts page. Something happen?

The SportsTalk 790 morning show is being hosted by Dan Matthews and Chris Gordy today. Sean Salisbury has been completely removed from the station website. Victim of the latest iHeart cuts?

Romance 102.5 sounds pretty good tonight. Don’t hear much static nor do I hear that streaming buzz anymore. Traveling on beltway eight from I 10 towards 45

On that stretch of the Beltway you would be hearing KJFI which doesn’t have the feed problems heard on co-channel K273AL.

I think you got them mixed up,

K273AL is close to I10 and Beltway 8.

KJFI is close to Highway 249 and Beltway 8.
K273AL is just north of FM1960 between Humble and Atascocita. I was in Atascocita recently and heard the digital stutter on 102.5.

KJFI is near Fallbrook and Beltway 8, near SH249.

You need to hit the report button to let us know. We don't all read every post in every thread. And as I've mentioned in the Ask The Moderators forum about this, we're not planning on staying with this software so I'm not wasting time trying to troubleshoot things beyond our control.

I assume you went from the east side of 10 to the north side of 45
That is likely the actual case. I had figured he meant the NW side of the Beltway as he had clean audio on Romance 102.5 presumably from KJFI versus the feed problems on K273AL. Perhaps the translator feed has been fixed?

I was on I10 by Walmart, drive and took Beltway 8 towards 45 North, Passed 59/69 north, kept driving passed JFK on Beltway 8, passes Hardy toll rd and started hearing static there. Kept driving on Beltway 8 and reach 45 north and started sounding clear again.

At my work in the woodlands area I can actually walk around and get all 3 signals and of course they’re not in sync with each other

Possible storm damage? 92.1 is off the air, Power 99.5 and La mejor 104.5 are also of air .
I’m hearing a religious program on 99.5 around 8:30am this morning. Usual music on 92.1

Dead air on 98.7 and 104.5. I have no idea how those translators are fed, but AT&T is apparently in the midst of a widespread internet outage including Houston which might have taken down some STLs. Downdetector.com shows a huge spike in trouble reports this morning.

97.1 is off the air this morning. I guess the second round of overnight storms knocked them out. I would've assumed Cox put a backup generator out there at some point between in the 20 years they ran Country Legends. Maybe it was neglected/scrapped by Urban One during the Sugarland trust days?

KLVL translator K235CS 94.9 is back on the air. Had been off for over four months. Currently has low audio but signal level is about the same as before from its presumed new transmitter location.

I’m not hearing it at all in the south Conroe area like before which is GREAT! I’m sure the KILE-LP family is happy if the LP is back on the air.

Where is the other 94.9 coming from? The one I hear close to Jacinto City. Radio Éxitos or Radio Éxito. Plays lots of classical Christian music.

And also I have noticed that Radio Fortaleza International hasn’t been on air for a while.
