Majic 94.1 no more????

vchimpanzee.blogspot.com
I'll set it up for you and give you the passwords, you can take it over tonight!
Just let me know. In a short, undetailed, non-rambling private message, perhaps.

I really need more detail to be able to appreciate where you're coming from. Is it a riding mower?
No, it's a push mower. The thing was just falling apart.

So I passed the building where they teach job skills to the disabled. Lots of commercials, and no station ID. When I passed by the second time I heard the song about Pina Colada. Very faintly, I could hear the letters "WMAG".

I went to the restaurant and asked why they had given up the hometown station. I was told, "He talks too much." I know my barber listened to that station but he actually WANTED news, and ddin't want to have to listen to the likes of Rush Limbaugh. Both stations air the same morning show, as I'm quite aware since I wake up with that station. I have to have something I can hear, and before sunrise, I can't do that with the station I like.

I go the bank tomorrow, and I guess that's it for places that used to air Majic. I think the other restaurant has Sirius or XM.

I went to the bank. No music there. I didn't ask.

The restaurant where I'm going Thursday has XM or Sirius, I think.

They had some kind of talk station where I got gas last week. I have this memory of them blasting Oldies 93 to everyone pumping gas but I don't know whether they switched to Majic.

In the future, I'd appreciate knowing how much gas you got and what you order at the restaurant. Is it legal to run XM in a restaruant? Do the Muzak people know about this?????? 8)

Wanna place a bet that either Hispanic of Oldies will soon be on 98.1? WTHZ jumped ship and left a huge audience of oldies listeners looking for a home and WGBT swited to Rush Radio 94.5 also leaving a huge audience looking for a home. The Hispanic's must have been the winner in that search since WNOW out of Gaffney, SC has a huge surge in audience in the GSO Winter book. Something will happen with WIST and it want be long in coming.

You mean 98.1, or 98.3?

Good guess. Looks to me like there could be a switch in the works in GSO market for a Oldies and a Hispanic station. 98.1 could go either way but would place money on Oldies if I had any to place. 98.3's signal is not strong enough to support the Oldies format but feel it could be huge as Hispanic. 98.3 will be a real long shot since they have this heritage thing going on and feel their ownership would be like a fish out of water trying to operate a mainstream station. This could be the reason Gig Hilton continues to air the old Majic format on his stream? Somebody is going to do something in one of these formats soon.

It's funny because there's a lot of talk in the Spanish boards about one...maybe two stations flipping really soon to Spanish in the Triad! I guess we'll have to wait and see.
;)

If WIST 98.3 goes Hispanic, not a bad move, although they won't have the coverage the format did on 94.5, don't look for WBRF
98.1 to change anytime soon, one thing i can say about them is they are a "community-driven" radio station, something that is
lacking these days, as far as the Oldies format returning to the Triad, it won't be on FM.

Maybe WMKS could be a candidate for the Hispanic station? They're not doing much in the ratings, otherwise.

WMKS has this very strange technique going on. They mention their competition more than they mention themselves. What's up wit that, what's up wit that? ( should be a SNL skit) Why in the world are they doing that. They must have the biggest IDIOTS over there. Anybody listen to them and hear this? Ha, I guess I know that answer. Nobody listens so we don't know what you're talking about ChrisChen.

Wit? Wit? What's up with that??? How about with..Jethro Bodine..

Do you have any concrete info to support your feelings? There are several Hispanic AM's in the market, and I'm not so sure Hispanic is as popular a choice as it once was. Yes, Hispanic is a growing market in our country, but the current economy and feelings toward Hispanics might not make it so attractive as a radio format right now. There's some reason CC switched.

That pretty crummy radio station had some pretty impressive ratings in the counties where they could be heard but I do agree with you on the continued board chatter. WHY?

An FM outlet with Spanish programming is necessary in the Triad. The Hispanic community isn’t being serve in cases of emergencies (tornados, floods etc). After 94.5 switched they "really" were left alone with some am's that you can't really hear after the sun goes down.

WGBT was the third billing station at CC GSO out of five. I don't think they flipped because of cash.

There's some reason CC switched.

It calls mainstream. The new owners of CC don't feel comfortable with formats that they don't know well.
