New Station in Cincinnati

I haven't read this entire thread, but what is the new format for the station going to be? I think its great that there is at least some sort of competition out there against clear channel. I never minded CC at the beginning, but after awhile it dawned on me that they were ruining talk radio by limiting the entry of new talent from local markets.

Question RE: Tower.

According to FCC the tower is located near Milan, IN.
However, I see - when traveling on I-74, that a new tower has been built on a hill in Miamitown. Is this the one for WMWX or something else?

No, our tower is just 2 miles north of I-74, off of the St. Leon exit (Rt. 1). Extremely high ground out there.

That new tower in Miamitown is WNLT's.

If I told you, I'd have to kill you!

Seriously, I wish I could talk but I've got duct tape on my lips until I flip the switch!

We'll be back out at the tower site tomorrow and Wednesday with hopes to get the testing done quickly so that you can find out what that format is............. ;D

Looks like you flipped the switch briefly last night between 7-9 PM for testing (Tuesday, Aug. 1)
Sounded good in the northeast suburbs (Sharonville/Blue Ash) - both in the car and at home.
Congratulations! Looking forward to listening to the real thing very soon!

Dang it. I either missed it or just can't pick it up. I SOOO need a digital tuner radio here at the house. Grrrrrrr.

I got WOBO. I got WMKV. I can't pick up WMWX.

<sings "You Can't Always Get What You Want" to myself, bitterly>

Pretty scratchy and fading signal in the Florence/Union area. WOBO is pretty loud on 88.7.

Reception Report for you Bill ;D while out driving (all reception reports from in car)
Cleves - 5/5
Saylor Park - 5/5
Sadamesville - 3/5 - Behind the Price Hill
Downtown - 3-4/5
Price Hill - 5/5
Western Hills - 5/5
Delhi - 5/5
Florence - 4/5
Hebron - 5/5
Lawrenceburg - 5/5
Queen City Ave. - 5/5
Highland Heights - 4/5
Southgate - 5/5

If this new station is 88.9 then I could barely hear it in Mt Lookout. The signal was very fuzzy and actually too weak to even consider listening to.

I only turned it on for a few seconds, so I didn't hear any identifiers. What I heard was some pickin' and grinnin' music just after 11am thursday, aug 3. Maybe that was a signal from another station though.

There goes the blank channel for my XM. I'll have to start running it through 107.9 I guess, but then I develop interference when I get up into Butler County from 107.7 WMMX.

Anyway, since I was fiddling today, I noticed the blank WMWX carrier on 88.9. Here in the northeast burbs there was a lot of static and some interference from the Wilberforce station. Frequently in the mornings, WEKU booms in here on 88.9, which also disrupts my XM.

Great signal in Brentwood (in car) but way too much interference from Star Tower/WEKU at home in Finneytown.
(keep in mind my block is also almost a null on 101.1 WIZF)

Any chance of HD soon?

Actually we are open to allowing someone else to use our HD availability. Anyone interested, email me for complete details.

Tomorrow is D-Day! Late afternoon, early evening.

BTW, thanks to the many phone calls we have received and all of the emails. We've been overwhelmed with both and we are not even on the air yet. Is Cincinnati starving for a new station, or what! We have had responses from all over including NKY & Indiana.

We are very happy with the station's signal. It is around 25% better than anticipated. The weakest area is the extreme east side (I-275) by Milford and Eastgate. WOBO kills us over there for sure.

Station name is 88.9 ClassX. Sounds great! I love the format its what I like to listen to AAA with album rock. They play what you want to hear from real artists not like CC that plays maybe like play 5 or 6 songs from one artist. Lerts say you want to hear a album cut never played on the radioi they will play it You dont have to wait for it to be played in the rotion if its in the rotation. Its not like the station thats lies and says they will play your request and not do it.

I think this new format is really cool. It's like XM's "Deep Tracks" for people who don't feel like getting satellite radio. I put the station on this evening in my 12 year old brother's room and he was dancing and playing air guitar to some weird 70s song about Martian cigarettes. He's usually not interested in classic rock other than the Who but he really enjoyed it. Best of luck to Bill Spry and to WMWX!
