Party's Over For 102.5?

Signal_Faded said:
Let me play devil's advocate for a minute. Obviously The Zone is the sports station in town but 102.5 has a great signal west all the way to Hopkinsville (which is further than 104.5 gets). This may not have been a move that was made exclusively for the Nashville metro market.
So maybe they should become, say, an Austin Peay affiliate station, if not the flagship station for Austin Peay sports?

Well, today's TRI has a very interesting angle as to why 102.5 could be flipping to sports: They suggest that Bud may merely be keeping the seat warm for The Zone's George Plaster upon the Cumulus/Citadel merger becoming final... you may recall Plaster has had some bad blood with Cumulus...

That is an interesting thought...but one would have to think that a non-compete would be involved or would the merger give him a window to move?

Hopefully, a non-compete would not be an issue. The last thing we need is a bunch of co-hosts once again pining for their absent "leader" because he is exiled due to a non-compete. We had that situation with (actually without) Plaster in the early days of the Zone. At any rate, if 102.5 goes the way of 104.5, then 102.5 will be leaving my presets just as surely as 104.5 did back in 2003! ::)

Don't hate the player, hate only The Game (fist to chest, then pointing to sky).

If Plaz goes to 102.5 how difficult would it be to find a sidekick to say, "That's right, George, " or, "I agree, Plaz,"?

Which is exactly why I don't listen to 24/7 sports talk radio.

It seems like everytime either a local (Plaster) or national (Van Pelt) is on, there is always a person agreeing with the same views over and over again.

I know that it's nice to not have shouting matches all the time, but still, I would like to see some of these second bananas be themselves and not somebody

else's puppets either; Which is exactly what Willie Daunic is.

To me that it why Jim Rome IS THE STANDARD, he don't have to throw it back to nobody but himself. ;D

Well, any credibility you had been building with that post was just completely flushed down the toilet with the Jim Rome praise.

Give George a break! Nashville likes to think it's a sports town, with the Titans, Vanderbilt, Sounds and Predators. Given the win loss record of these teams, George is right where he should be. Besides he's a good Greek home boy that likes living here...and why not, it's a great place to live.
If you start equating winning with tax payer investment, the citizens of Middle TN have not received their money's worth...yet.
But it's coming!

A little birdie confirms "102.5 The Party WPRT Nashville will flip to Sports as 102.5 The Game."
well damn...guess the Hot/AC format was more a stunt than anything, while they prepped their actual format (sports) I wish them luck...Something tells me it won't work
They can say goodbye to my presets if they switch! On the other hand, it may not be too much of a loss for me. Anyone hear all that double audio that they had last night? ::)

At any rate, I don't want anyone to say that they "failed" at hot AC here in Nashville, because they were never actually committed to it!

Well no, you can't say that at all. Hot AC was never their intended format, which explains why they never promoted it. I think if it was the intended format, you would of seen heavy promotion. I'm sure you will with the new sports format

Unfortunately, it actually already has been said, earlier in this very thread, no less:

http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=194724.10

There are those on this board who actually want hot AC to fail in Nashville, and they will use "the Party" as "proof" of that!

what are they changing?

102.5 The Game has a 100,000 watt signal which is the maximum broadcast strength for an FM Radio Station. This signal strength is equal to all full wattage FM stations in Nashville and will be further strengthened just before the switch.

will they put it back on 102.1?

Does this mean 102.9 The Buzz is a candidate of getting cut (pun intended)? They do hold the radio rights to the Predators, after all.

if anything the predators game will move to the 102.5 signal so it won't be that big of a loss for the Buzz since they are co owned with one another.
