Pete Sheppard - Out at WEEI

There's one less mouth fighting for the free food that comes rolling in every time the hosts 'mention' a local eatery on the air

("Ohhhh...is that how it works? I didn't know that!")

How much do the guest hosts get paid per show? If they cut down to one guest host they would cut costs and cut the Larry Johnson, Fred Smerlas, Butch Sterns, and Steve Burton appearances in half.

I think they're making a serious mistake. The tenor of the show was comedic and it seemed to work for a long time. Pete's buffoonery was often the central theme.

Who will be the substitute host when Ordway takes his 8 or 9 weeks vacation? Sheppard was very good in that role. If I hear Mustard and Johnson substituting Felger has a new listener.

I have no idea what Kurt was being paid--to let WEEI host his site-- but he indicates it was significant. He's putting his money up...

Well if they're going to let Pete go (which I think stinks), we can only hope they'll get rid of that puke flash boy on the AM show also.

First of all ... no flaming me, okay? But is there a SLIGHT possibility that the firing of Pete Sheppard has been contrived by 'EEI management and that we will see him back on the station soon? Remember Mikey Adams "blockading" himself in the studio 4 years ago until he was finally given the position.

Pretty obvious that 98.5 is gaining momentum. I've seen at least three Facebook petition pages up already. And to me, it seems rather odd that there is so much talk on the Big Show, among others on EEI, about Pete's firing.

Something just doesn't seem right about this, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him back on EEI soon.

Thoughts ????

I don't know why I get the funny feeling that this whole thing was indeed planned to create publicity. Granted, he was with the station for 10 years and was popular among their listeners. But it wouldn't surprise me if they did stoop to this level.

said this morning that there's more to this then a simple economic savings.

My listening to 'EEI has dropped by about 75% so I didn't hear what's being said about Pete. But it can't be stunt.
And the remark about "more to this then a simple economic savings" probably refers to corporate rather than the station's status. Obviously EEI could have finished the last year in Sheppard's deal. But Entercom probably expects cuts from all its stations just as a matter of course.

Heslem says Schilling "yanked" the site: maybe not?

Globe reporting that Schilling's contract to have his blog on EEI's site ended last week, before he knew about Pete. Since I didn't hear him with the BigO, I'm not sure if he left the impression he was not going to blog there anymore, as long as Sheppard was no longer with the station?

The Herald reports that Wolf wasn't surprised Curt commented on station personnel issues:
"he had to chime in on this one, too, I guess.”

Oh noes! listeners to 'EEI won't be able hear Schilling until Edwards returns?? Oh no!

(anyone get the 'edwards' thing? LOL)

I wasn't really a fan of Pete to begin with, but there are others there who should be thrown out on their butts before Pete was

Yeah, I do. That was early-on in Schilling's association with 'EEI. I think he really is friendly with Pete.

My conspiracy theory: Pete was the only one dropped from the station last week...not a budget cut but a termination for another reason...usually with budget cuts you wipe out a few people.
