Processing clips

Uups, indeed! That's what happens when you don't pay attention :-[

New (stereo!) clips are now uploaded...

I would love to have a copy of those dspx presets too. So if you would be so kind to share them mail me please highshot(at)hotmail.com. Thnx.

Very interesting. I like the way mine stands up... I think :D

It probably could use some more bass, but it's interesting to see how processing here in NYC sounds compared to what you have thousands of miles away, which is basically what this test was. IIRC, this was when I was A/B'ing the DSP-X vs Z-100 and KTU in NYC and trying to get it cleaner and just as loud.

Some points

Preset 2 is very close but runs some more midrange. I backed off the midrange slightly in the DSP-X to avoid some grunge in the clipper. One of my BIGGGEST pet peeves is gross clipping in pianos and I thought my preset dealt with that well.

This preset like all my DSP-X presets were worked for Ariane AGC's in front. Usually if I traded presets out, I had a preset wideband AGC setting I would activate in front and leave it for the end user to further tweak. It seems to work well just as it was.

Your preset has some nice bass and I think this is pretty good that we've met in the middle. Thanks for sharing.

There are files appearing on the server without any comments... It would be nice if there was a note here of what is recorded, etc. so we have a little bit more insight ;) And communication.

That being said, there's a nice clip of Omnia.jr from Netherlands that stood out for me. And a DSPXmini, fairly heavily set-up.

Added clip run through an analog devices adsp 21364 Sharc dsp board.
With own code.

I added my take on Come Sail Away with DSPX_Come_Sail_Away.mp3

Trying to get a dense but faithful reproduction... Omnia 6 inspired :)

I just listened to ModuloMaxx Processing 4 - Radio Pige Mars 2007.mp3 clip and I really like how it sounds! Which processor is that?

Added 222a-Orban8200v3-Modified5Bfast_dance_airrecord.mp3
A simple test which is based on the 5Bfast preset, but ofcourse modified. the 8200 is predecessed by an orban 222a stereoenhancer.
Recordings are done over the air on 7 kilometer distance.

Added a clip "DSPX-FM-with-StereoImager-80-90-current-hits-by-F-Mister.mp3".

Various music 80's/90's and current. The source is mp3. Ran through a Waves Stereo Imager to make it a bit more spacious. Then through my DSPX-FM loaded with a modified preset I got from Goran Tomas (thnx again).

I don't like it "to clean", my source material is mp3 to begin with so..... And in my case I don't use it on air so I can afford to have it a bit "dirty" ;).

At the beginning of the clip current top 40 hit's. At the end 80's and last but not least Styx - Sail Away. All the same plugin!

Nice sound! For which station is that? Is there a livestream available?

I found a clip from SkyRock in the directory with the famous 1989. It sounds awesome! Which soundprocessor is that?

Though I'm obviously biased, I really like it :) It's alive and kicking! There's distortion on some songs, but at the end there's a solo piano with very little distortion which leads me to belive that distortion there is on some songs is already there in the recordings...

Also, the clips nicely shows a very good loudness and tonal consistency of DSPX processing. The "dialed" sound is there on all songs, it does not wander around...

Hi Erwin,

it's for a temporary licensed station which runs 4 days a year...Unfortunately this is timespan is too less to be true.
But a fun way to run licensed and not like pirates like we did in the past.
The presets are maintained by a good friend of mine who devellopes these. I may assume you are from NL?

Evert

@F-mister, the clipper drive is somehow excessive, but very very ok for dance.
The first track played is very close to slamfm's processing style. I wouldn't use it for pop, or other stuff. For jumpstyle, pump da thing baby.. ;-) The stereo enhancement is cool, but i can hear some excessive enhancements in all vocals ( chorus ).
In the remake of the track of supertramp ( take a look at my girlfriend ) you can hear the bassdrums clip like hell.
In the AHA "take me on" track, it also clips, but the average loudness is great.
try to put the release somehow larger for the limiter or decrease clipper drive.
Shaka kan however sounds very nice, except for clipping bass( in combination with the snares )
Candi dulfer has some slight ducking with the sax and the guitar. Band 3 duck issue?
Running in the family, ok but too packed. distortion in the mid/highs? mp3?
Sailing away, styx, ducking on vocals/bass. Very tiresome. vocal presence ok.

One last remark is that the overal sound is a bit dull, Smacked& packed. The stereoenhancement masquerades this a bit.
Try to achieve more on the clipper with bigger release times. Or put something in front of your unit.
Plus: LOUD!
Minus: clipping, gate to tight, ducking.

remember this is a personal remark..

is this an airrecord? or direct?

Evert
