Let’s review some things.
Morrell would let his daughter (if he has one) marry Howard Stern before he’d even allow JR Gach to drive by his radio station
Let’s approach this from a strategic point of view shall we? If you are the new GM and you have two of the market top money makers in the building don’t you yearn for one of them to be number one? Of course!
Magic sucks ratings from B95. When it moves to AM all those offices, businesses, and nursing home folk up past sunset will all default back to B95.
B95 inches up. First problem solved.
Then there is WGNA. How do you make B95 number one? Put country on a stick that can compete in the core market, that’s how. I have no doubt that Pamal has any intentions of beating GNA but simply plans to chip away enough ratings to propel B95 into first place. When Froggy was on 104.9 it seemed to be just a placeholder. (remember the attempted “trust” they tried to put it in with Glens Falls?) 104.9 is not at all suited for any sort of format that needs to be heard inside a building. 96.3 did the country thing too but it was ill executed and on a signal slightly better than 104.9.
100.9 is a different story. It’s a strong, in market class A who d!cked with B95's numbers plenty. Just to make sure to touch the rural areas watch for them to simply duplicate the Froggy 107.1 programing on 100.9
You watch - it’s coming. Country. The 22nd. It will NEVER beat GNA but I have a feeling it’s job is to erode enough from GNA to allow B95 to be number one, thus $$$ in their pockets.
Let’s talk about Hot Talk. Are you kidding? Who would they put on it? That was tried here and many other places. It failed in all of them. Not going to happen. Also not going to happen are smooth jazz, all 80s, AAA, dance, or any other pipe dream format.
When it comes to Pamal it is all about B95. If they make changes on that station too like replacing Rick Mitchell that makes my point more valid.
You watch and see.
