B95 ratings are down. Replace Ric Mitchell with Chuck Taylor(1994 to 2007 at B95)? Leave Magic on 100.9!

Absolutely!!! Look at the wonders he achieved for 105.7!!!!

A take from somebody on the west end of the Thruway with family in Albany: Unless it's a very specialized format, music on AM isn't going to draw many listeners, even on a decent AM signal like WROW. AC stations rely heavily on "at work" listening to drive TSL and AQH Share. AM radio stations (especially on the low end of the dial) get obliterated by hash from computers, motors and almost every electrical appliance known to man. Moving an AC format from FM to AM is like putting it on life support.

Speaking for myself... who works in Albany's west end... I can get 590 just fine within a few inches from the computer tower. If I switch to FM, I can't get 100.9 very well at all!! (lots of static) :p

Another website is stating that "1009THEBRIDGE.COM" and "ALBANYBRIDGE.COM" are 2 domain names that were reserved on monday. Anyone have any guesses as to what kind of format would have that kind of image?

Magic cut into B-95 and B-95 can't afford to give up even 1 ratings point, especially to a sister station. Moving Magic to the 590 signal effectively kills it. My prediction, 6 months before the plug gets pulled on Magic on the AM side and they go back to talk at 590. This general manager has his agenda, I am sure this isn't the end of "surprises" at Johnson Road.

I see it as a few days ago - not 2008.

That simply means the registrant is based in Scottsdale. It looks like a private / via proxy registration but CLEARLY how many cities named Albany that have a 100.9 are there? Not many if more than one. Also take a look at some of the ABC websites - albanymagic.com albanyedge.com - this fits.

Wait... 100.9 The Bridge? What a stupid name. It could be country then. (Or AAA. Or Contemporary Christian - both of which are STUPID and clearly show the lack of foresight by the people on Johnson Road. )

Did they do some sort of perceptual that is suddenly the bible?

When is Rick Mitchell out the door?

What's the next format flip?

Probably AAA (think "The River").

Sirius/XM have a channel called The Bridge. Not a bad format, it's AAA. Wonder if it's service marked? Or maybe 100.9 will just play Led Zeppelin... "Where's that confounded bridge!? AAA is a cool format but it doesn't seem to be getting any traction in LA or NYC. Would Albany be any different?

I don't care what the format is you don't call any radio station in Albany "The Bridge"! The landscape of the area does not feature a dominant bridge (like the Golden Gate...which would make sense). It's a diversion for the other Albany in Oregon! The Bridge...ha....idiots! Branding 101...people! Now...100.9 the Egg! That's a branding statement that is memorable...

I could be wrong, but isn't there a contraption right near Albany known as the Tappan Zee bridge? Just sayin'...

Tappan Zee bridge is 100 miles from Albany. No local reference there, and no bridges that are noteworthy enough to brand a station after in Albany.

What about the "twin" bridges?

Or maybe it's a bridge to nowhere..............

I wonder if any ABC honchos are reading these posts ... and having a good laugh. ;D

Anyone know exactly when 100.9 will stop broadcasting their soft AC format, and switch over to whatever junk they plan to replace it with??? I call it junk because NOTHING can be better than the music they have been playing all this time. I seriously thought they were one of the best radio stations in the country, and here they are, about to switch.

I noticed that their website has already been changed and it no longer says "Magic 100.9"...the front page has a big message saying that they are moving to 590 AM. Honestly, what is the point of listening to MUSIC on an AM station??? Even YouTube gives better sound quality, and at least it has a visual component to it as well.

Well we now have two formats on AM that are pretty similar , WROW 590 with a killer signal in Albany, and WABY 1160 with a loyal following in Saratoga county.. Curious to see what station actually comes out ahead the next book.

I agree ... to a point.

WKLI has a unique (especially for FM) format. Normally, this is an AM format. (more on that in a bit) The two things that drive me crazy about the station, are the amount of ads they have. Way too many breaks per hour.. and long! They could at least afford to have 1 commercial-free hour during the day. I know it pays for the programming... but it's overkill. Plus, their annoying "jingles" ... played after (& in between) EVERY song! THAT drove me up the wall!

Now here's where I disagree. The format they use is a mix of Citadel's "Timeless" (which I believe is ending today) and Dial Global's "America's Best Music". Timeless used to be heard here on Pamal's 930 WIZR Johnstown. They were my favorite station--- over and above MAGIC. Timeless has since only been heard in this region on 970 AM (Norwich) and 1270 AM (Walton) Locally, we get "ABM" on 1190 & 1230. To me, THIS music was MADE for AM radio! I absolutely prefer to hear Sinatra, Carpenters, Bread, Mathis, Striesand et all, on AM radio. IMO, AM sounds MUCH better than it used to, and is a compliment to the overall sound. Music on AM was the foundation of what radio is today.

There are many AM stations around us playing standards to pop-rock. Several are on my presets, and now 590 is as well! 8)

My guess - the 19th is the last day then they stunt for a weekend and launch the new junk the 22nd.

Maybe Jeff Bridges will do their imaging... or the station becomes The Bridge to nowhere. Guitar or violin bridge. Dental bridge. Bridge loan. I dunno.
