Foolish me i thought bonneville was one company that knew what they were doing!!!What a stupid programming decision they made who the f wants to listen to old grandpa geezer 80s music iot will be a colossal failure of epic proportion and they deserve it!!!

This sound did better then the one in los angeles they are stupid people at bonneville and will regret what they did!!!

By the way this 80s station is god awful how any of you people can stand listening to this old geezer grandpa music is beyond me time to move on in life there is no market anymore for all 80s station!!!

Old Geezer Music??????? 80's music hits the profile of women age 35-54...that's a prime radio demo, especially if the bulk of the audience is 35-44.

Not everything yet runs on alt rock, my friend.

You should call me the geezer...I grew up in the 60's.

So who else thinks 94.1 just got handed a major clue with this change?

The Sound is supposed to be streaming from http://www.thesoundcincinnati.com - I would think it's kind of hard to do so when the website isn't even MADE.

What a clusterf*ck.

try http://www.973thesound.com for the website that is still active as of this morning
You're not getting my point here. Sure, the old website is active... but the 'listen live' link leads to The Chill channel, and not The Sound.

The press release from Bonneville said that thesoundcincinnati.com is where the Sound could be heard... and it's not.

For the record, first song on Rewind 94.9 was "Hungry Like The Wolf" by Duran Duran. "I Love Rock N Roll" by Joan Jett was second.
So far from looking at what they're playing are stale 80s songs that have been overplayed on other stations for years. To make this thing succeed they're going to have to go deeper into the 80s than this, i.e. like Star 107.9 in Columbus in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Actually, the first song was "Centerfold" followed by "You Dropped a Bomb On Me."

I am furious that The Sound is no longer on FM. That was the only radio station i listened to, and I listened every day. I know there are many others who are as disappointed as I am. There are no other alternative music stations in Cincinnati and there are already several country and oldies stations. I can't listen to internet radio in my car, nor do i wish to install an expensive HD radio. Making this change will not encourage me or any of my friends to listen to The Wolf or Rewind or B105 or Q102 (the stations associated with the same company that owned The Sound). We simply won't listen to radio at all. This was a horrible decision on the part of executives. The elimination of music that the people actually like is the reason why radio is dying. Who can I send a petition to?

I actually heard "You Dropped A Bomb On Me" later in the evening - which means they played it twice within several hours.

In other words, another station with no variety.

Actually Bonneville made a great move if you think about it.

Rewind 94.9 is right now and 80's station, but knowing how they work, it will evolve into some 90's music too. Bonneville doesnt make stupid programming moves, and everything they do is long and thought out before execution.

Well, Ky...they're a "hybrid" station, not exactly an 80's station. They play a lot of 80's dance product, some of which hasn't always tested well. The audience for "80's stations" tends to lean more to the rock side. But...I think they're making a real attempt to go after 30 something and 40 something females, and if well-targeted, it might just work. I agree, though...Bonneville does not have a track record of doing things they have not researched and have come to a positive conclusion.

Lastly, to a few of you complaining about having to buy "expensive HD radios"...uh...the price is dropping. I bought my home receiver for about $100 bucks. A car radio's under $175...And I'm hearing of a portable one coming on the market this year for around, if I remember what I was reading, about $75 dollars...the price of a cheap to mid-line boom box.

Alans: I don't think their ultimate goal is to be an "80's station". Perhaps think of it, in a weird sense, as "Mojo 2.0". Danceable songs from the 80's (and eventually perhaps) 90's aimed at women 35-44 and 35-54.

Yes, we were deeper with Star...but remember, the base playlist was about 450 songs, the other "library" music was played for specific features and the weekend "party" shows. It was the same concept the original WGRR was based on using 50's and 60's music...kind of.

They should really just go MEGA OLD SCHOOL or Rhythmic AC like MOViN. But 80s and More means 90s and Now could be soon to come. This will bring MOJO listeners back especially keeping it hot and interactive. Good move!

For many reasons, HD Radio is a failure like AM stereo was. Those that have it, will be using it as a doorstop as everything is going to the internet.

they already play some 90's songs, if you listen to the station more closely

Yeah a few but it's weak! They should've just went straight Rhythmic Oldies or Rhythmic AC. All 80s will not work. Rhythmic Oldies would bring them back to where they wanna be. Rhythmic AC however, they may be worried will hurt Q. Doubt it.

Holly on Q102 is playing some 80's tonight on the Friday night request show. I heard Tone Loc earlier So there is some overlap. Rewind 94.9 needs a request show on saturday nights. I bet the 80's show on Q Saturday night moves to rewind.
