Some of you really are amazing.
1) Russ getting arrested was not a bit. If you think that he has all of these news outlets (local and national) and various police departments in on a giant bit, then it's no wonder you spend your time on this message board gossiping and 'telling how it is'... instead of actually working in radio. It's not a bit. He was arrested. Period.
2) You can ask me 'what happened' and throw out 'if you really know' comments all you want. As I said, while I am anonymous on this board, I still have respect (for all involved) and common sense (concerning my career) not to give details of the story on here. If you want the details, then wait until they come out either on Russ' show or in the media (which still may not give a completely accurate story... see AP/WFAA). You can speculate that he is guilty of the charges he is accused of all you want, but that doesn't mean they are fact.
3) The comments about him being put on leave from his job are ridiculous. What allegedly happened did not occur on CBS time or property and has yet to proven. So why would he be put on leave? Another fine example of why you probably aren't successful in the business. Common sense. He didn't violate any CBS rules. He is accused of a crime not related to work and not affecting his work whatsoever. If CBS wanted to punish him for something he allegedly did in his personal time, they would have a hell of a lawsuit on their hands.
4) Again... the accusations are just that. Accusations. Nothing has been proven. Did you not see the comment from someone regarding females accusing males of violence when no violence occurred, and the males consequently still being arrested? C'mon. We all know how it works. For example, if there is a domestic disturbance call to a house and the police arrive and find a couple fighting, someone is going to jail. And in most cases that someone is the male. This is just an example of one possibility. Again, he was arrested. He was not convicted. Get that through your heads.
I don't even know why I came back to this board in the first place. But after reading this thread, I remember why I left.

First of all, I knew nothing of this until I read the Dallas Morning News this a.m. and I went online to try to find more info. I first came to this site when P&K disappeared and didn't register, just read...until now. I have been a listener of this station for about 8 years. I listen to Jagger in the a.m. on the way to work and used to listen to P&K when on my lunch break (BDH is BAD...I can't stand the guy...REMOVE HIM) and have always counted on RMS to get me home. My first reaction is that I can't believe that Russ assaulted his girlfriend and haven't seen a bit of proof that he did. There are no "facts" at this point, just speculation. Almost every iota of content on his show is a "bit" and I cannot believe that he assaulted Mandy or Amy or whatever the frig her real name is. The guy practically lives his life for animals and peace officers, whether police, fire or military...I can't imagine him assaulting a woman! I really hope that when the facts...the real facts...come out that Russ didn't touch Mandy/Amy and that someone hassled him at Larry North (he is a target for enemies...very hated by a LOT of people, as are a lot of controversial media people). If the facts come out and he did assault his girlfriend....I don't know what I'm going to do....I don't know if I could listen to him anymore. I take a lot of grief because I actually LIKE Russ Martin and I'm a 47 year old woman. I can't imagine an afternoon driving home without his voice and really hope this whole thing has been overblown by the media and totally inflated by rumors. I'm standing by until he is proven guilty of something...this is America, not Indonesia...I want facts and I want proof. (P.S., Gavin must be having a girly fit about now).

I'm not sure if I'm correct here, but in listening to his show I think he talked about someone who bothered him or confronted him before at Larry North. I'm not sure how much of the show is real and not but I keep thinking that he had said that before. Just a suggestion.
And common sense would say, why would he beat his girlfriend in public? It's sad that everyone jumped to that conclusion. It must be hard for someone to have to face a public audience after something like that happened. I'll be impressed if he even addresses it on the air Monday or if he just ignores it as if nothing happened.

But having dabbled in law previously, I can attest to the fact of repercussions by government and police agencies were this to turn out to have been a tasteless, ill-conceived bit hell-bent on driving ratings in the wake of the P&K demise.
Therefore, I conclude that not only was there an assault as described, but that the beneficial timing of a weekend will work in his favor as his attorneys and "people" work to spin and otherwise "hush" the matter. My guess is that Gavin has been pow-wow-ing with corporate off and on all weekend, while holding his thumb on the pulse of the people.
According to my source, Russ will be on-air Monday. If nothing else, this should prove to be an interesting set of events. We'll certainly see.
