Russ Martin arrested

You people are amazing. Some reporter from the Dallas Observer reports Russ Martin assaulted his girlfriend and you act like it is fact. It has not been reported anywhere else. Also, I was at 300 today in Addison where 105.3 was having a bowling benefit for Police and Fire Fighters. I spoke to a police officer there who said the victim was not Russ' girlfriend, because the victim was a male.
 
Yeah, why would he do a bit to get attention during a ratings book? Why in the world would he want all those people tuning in on Monday to find out what happened?? ::) Or talking about it here as much as it has been during a ratings book??{/sarcasm}

To state about Mr. Martin: We dont know the whole story. If it did happen as it was reported, then he will be judged in a court of law and held accountable for his actions. If it did not, then it will be handled accordingly as well. One thing that hasnt been seen, or even asked, in any of the comments in that in alot of these types of cases  (alleged domestic disputes), it that it is being generated/initiated by a jilted/angry partner(GF/BF,Spouse,Lover,ect..). I can speak from some level of experience on this as my brother was in a similar issue some years ago with a jealous girlfriend who in actually attacked him with little to no provication. Lets not forget that in this situation and keep that as a potential factor in our thoughts on this issue.

I'm not quite understanding why Russ being in prison garb is some proof a bit. It's not uncommon for prisoners to have their mug shot taken after they have been processed and given the jail's attire to change into.

Well, let's try to educate those who know nothing about radio. The SUMMER book (BY FAR) is the least important book of the year, as listening patterns deviate more than they do throughout the year. Ad agencies pay little heed to summer numbers and most personalities in the DFW market DO NOT have bonuses built into their contracts for the summer book. I really hope you learned something here, as you probably don't want to look that dumb and wrong in front of people again.

FALL and SPRING books are most important.
Followed by WINTER.
Then SUMMER.
 
Let's look at the obvious:

1. He has brought law enforcement into MANY bits over the years. If you can't think of any from the show, think back to that "Hot Tkts" show. Getting the Denton County PD into bits was a regular feature.

2. The creation of the foundation, as I have been told by more than one insider over the years, was **reportedly** a tradeout to get rid of a couple of, um, duplicate indiscretions that could have made for a personal mess for years to come...and yes, I'm sure the foundation oozes of goodwill to and from the police/fire community, so I'm sure it's nothing for him to call in a marker here and there when needed. I'd bet future "indiscretions" are completely covered, and had this been serious, would have been kept from the news as a thank-you for the foundation.

3. Larry North is a sponsor of the show, the "official"--something of the show. What safe ground to 'pick a fight.'

4. I'm sure if there was any flak from the local PD on participating in such a bit, he could have waved the "look what I pay in taxes to your city" bit. (And I'm sure he does...about the only way to keep yourself off of the Appraisal District website is to deed your house in a company name, and you do NOT get your homestead exemption when you do.)

5. Supposedly bringing Al Brumley's casket into the studio? And THIS is a new low?

6. Where's the name/prisoner number slate in the pic?

As already mentioned, this could sure divert attention away from P&K's departure. This all reeks of yet another bit, probably from the same mind(less) that brought you Fitz's electrical blackout bit, Flakeboy's smuggling of guns into the airport, Kramer and Twitch and the Britney "death" story, etc. But, as I've learned firsthand from the master, ANY publicity is GOOD publicity. (For me, I would have staged it at his car repair place...DOUBLE publicity there.)
 
OK - something isn't right here... RDN now states that one person was injured at the gym in Southlake B-U-T the photo source is Keller PD. Why would that be? Southlake has their own PD??? ???
 
Southlake does have an agreement with Keller PD that they have a shared facility.

This incident showed the media doesn't always get the story right. But an arrest for a 2nd degree felony isn't funny but then again neither is Russ.

Russ is an ignorant boy that thinks the laws do not apply to him. The only thing that would make this better is if he would have gotton tased!

You can only hope that 105.3 will handle this correctly, but their history of Russ is to let him do whatever he wants. I don't listen to Russ anymore, how long can you listen and relisten to the same bits. But I do listen to other shows on that station. But if they let him return to the air, I will not listen to the station again.
This is such a serious charge, but if it was his girlfriend (which has been verified by several informants but not a named source) Russ will never recover from it! That is deplorable.

Um, unless you have facts and documents to prove such a claim then this is nothing more than rumor. Sorry - but I would not post stuff like that unless you can publicly back it up with hard facts.

No offense to you personally - people seem to love you here - but posting things like that is how this is all snowballing out of control. You seem smart enough to know that posting a "rumor" on the internet is tantamount to fact in this day in age since people will grab onto to anything negative about people they chose to dislike for whatever reasons be it valid or not.

If you like it or not - everyone is entitled to their day in court on any charge and by posting rumors all you are doing is attempting to poison the public view (or at least the segment of the public that reads this message board). Also - by posting a rumor that you have no facts to verify you are simply stooping as low as the personality you are talking about.

You can't have your cake and eat it too, either you are above all this nonsense and have the sensability to wait until all the facts are made public or you are joining the chorus of people making guesses and and posting made up rumors with malice to the subject of said rumors.

SO which is it? Are you just another person joining in with no facts other than rumor or are you above that?

I personally would like to have thought you were above that. If you love radio and the beauty of the art form that is radio (dying or not) then why would you choose to get involved with lowering the art form that you seem to love so dearly.

If it were you whom had been arrested - how would you feel if people were posting rumors and non-facts about you? The fact is at this point no one knows for sure 100% of the entire story. While you are entitled to an opinion on the matter - please do not try to pass of your opinion, as you so put it as "obvious".

It doesn't matter when or where it happened. What matters is, it happened. Assault is not something to joke about, period. Sorry you believe the only appropriate action "thing" is hogwash, because it isn't.

Um - so what exactly happened?

Sorry but other than rumors and message board gossip all we know is a few media outlets are reporting an arrest with no details other than an on going investigation.

That about sum it up?

Or did I miss the part where all the "junk" that has been posted here (as well as other message boards - you know where the truth and fact reign supreme - kinda like wikipedia) was reported as a fact with evidence?

Star telegram is quoting the Southlake PD as saying an individual was injured at the gym where the assault allegedly occurred. I suppose it could have been his fiancee, Mandy at the gym, or I suppose all you castrating him for beating a woman could be factually incorrect.
