Russ Martin arrested

Just read the PDF from Southlake PD that you posted as well.

Again – not to state what should be totally obvious here but at no point does it say that Russ Martin has done anything rather he has been accused.

“The warrant was the result of allegations that Mr. Martin assaulted a woman at his Southlake home last Monday, July 14th”

“According to the unnamed complainant, she and Martin engaged in a verbal altercation that turned physical. She advises that Martin physically assaulted her and displayed a pistol during the altercation. The woman reported the incident to the police the following day”

Now – I’m not a lawyer here but I don’t see anywhere that he has been proven guilty of anything. All I can see is he has been accused and arrested. Nothing more than that. Seems like just ONE side of a story.

Also – turned physical can mean any number of things. No one knows exactly what if anything transpired.

I would imagine that if any of us were accused of such an incident – and had a high profile in the local media especially with local law enforcement – they would virtually have to be arrested. The flip side being – what if he was accused and not arrested? People would really be flipping out would they not? The only facts here are Mr. Martin has been accused by an unnamed person of assault and displaying a pistol and was subsequently arrested. Anything else is just conjecture and hearsay, correct?

I highly doubt that if this were a radio personality that the vast majority of posters here liked that the resulting threads and posts would be so negative and accusatory. Point being that no one here knows exactly what happened (myself included) but the majority is ready to burn him in effigy. You don’t like his show or him – great! No big whoop – but to grandstand on the internet when you have ONE side of story is immature and horribly irresponsible.

Hey – if it comes out that he did a bad thing whatever it may be – I will be the first to have egg on my face but that hasn’t happened yet.

I will wait along with the rest of the uninformed to at least hear the other side of the story(and that’s just about everyone) But then that's the beauty of this - most of you had already made up your minds hours if not days ago based on little to no information - so why should the facts or the other side of the story get in the way? Or god forbid the legal process?!

I don't know how he got everyone to participate, but that's what makes him the best.

Now, that you've seen him put his mugshot on his myspace page, you know exactly how seriously he is taking this.

5. Supposedly bringing Al Brumley's casket into the studio? And THIS is a new low?

6. Where's the name/prisoner number slate in the pic?

As already mentioned, this could sure divert attention away from P&K's departure. This all reeks of yet another bit, probably from the same mind(less) that brought you Fitz's electrical blackout bit, Flakeboy's smuggling of guns into the airport, Kramer and Twitch and the Britney "death" story, etc. But, as I've learned firsthand from the master, ANY publicity is GOOD publicity. (For me, I would have staged it at his car repair place...DOUBLE publicity there.)

I was sitting in one of KLLI's satellite studios recording Leykus when the casket rolled past me. It wasn't Brumley's and Russ was hiding in it to scare Liz Wilde. Russ has said several times "everything is a bit". If you would actually give that bit any credence you should re-think what can actually be "theater of the mind". Maybe you should worry about being able to actually say "W" in "WBAP". Instead of "Doubly"BAP.

As to what is goin on with this recent "Arrest" I have no idea what is fact and what happened and neither do any of you. If you have HARD evidence post it. If you choose to remain silent and let the facts come out, I can respect that. The REST is all RUMORS. Until proven otherwise.

It's interesting how many people are so happy to see the potential downfall of Russ Martin. They have forgotten one thing: Russ is immensely successful. If CBS dumps him, he may just retire. It appears Russ has made some good investments and lives rather frugally (in comparison to others in his income bracket).

Russ may end up as a highly paid radio consultant telling owners and PDs the same things he does on the air for free. He has the auto shop and has talked about opening a bar/restaurant in the past. He could still do so. Majestic could offer him an investment opportunity. Russ has so many other opportunities to continue to succeed in DFW he doesn't need to go anywhere else.

Can any of these other naysayers make it in any radio market, especially the #5 market?

Man I appreciate your loyalty, but read the arrest warrant again. According to a statement attributed to Russ the IRS is getting ready to turn him inside out. That doesn't sound like someone who is going to have money to live on the rest of his life.
 
Soooooo...Does BDH pick up from 11 am-7PM?????? I don't mean to make light of the situation, but I'd say that Gavin is in a real mess from a programming standpoint. I can't see even "Best of" filling the 3-7pm time slot based on the information in the affadavit.

The more important question is, can KLLI continue with their present forrmat? With P&K gone and Russ on his way out, Gavin has huge holes to fill. My guess is, Gavin gets a pink slip too, and CBS flips the station to something else. I imagine if CBS tries to keep the KLLI identity, the station gets left with a black eye. Might as well just trash the whole thing at this point, and start over.
 
So far, the reporting has been pretty standard on domestic abuse calls. Protective orders are issued on every case like that. We may never know the full details as to what happened, unless stories collaborating one side come out of both mouths.
