Russ Martin arrested

So many people on here are against Russ. I personally don't know the situation that led to Russ getting arrested. But until I hear more credible information from the news or better yet, Russ himself. It is not your or my role to spread rumors.

i dont know russ, have never met russ, and i dont think his show is funny.
so if this is a bit then he has fallen to the lowest class of **** sapiens possible.
if not, and is guilty, he has fallen even lower than that.
if innocent, then we get more hum-drum, boring radio.
i dont know which i want more.

I'm not for nor against RM. It is simply entertainment. Although this might end up being more than that. Knowing RM, I can't think he'd treat the subject (that is, if it was someone else in the cinder-block police photo) any different on-air on the speculation discussion as anyone in this thread. (Perverted Justice anyone?) You get treated the same way you treat people. He's ragged my ass on the air, that's what he does... thus, TRM show is a high-rated show, equally, a high rated thread here... but Looks like it all comes back on you sometimes. But hey, that's entertainment.

Everyone's getting carried away about this being a career killer or unfunny bit because "domestic violence is not funny."
Nothing I've read (besides Richie Witt's libelous Dallas Observer post) would lead you to believe Amy is involved in any capacity.
One story said the district attorney's office has yet to decide if charges will be pursued. Until Russ is charged, settle down!
My opinion/theory is that Russ probably got into some sort of verbal altercation with a stranger and the situation escalated to the point there was physical contact. I don't know why everyone's jumping the GUN about the ... well, gun thing. A "deadly weapon" can be any number of items. You could crack someone in the face with a bottle of Snapple and face the same charge.
Also, it it quite common for the instigating party in a physical confrontation to subsequently be the one to have the police called if they end up on the losing end. If the cops are called, and there's evidence of an assault and there's a complaint, they have to take the alleged offender in, and sort out the details later (self defense, etc.).
I think this is likely a legit arrest that local media ran absolutely (and irresponsibly) wild with.

I understand that it isn't real. Just pointing out that they are all playing it up quite a bit. If this is all just a bit, I sure can't imagine what the punch line would be.
 
Let's face it here people - if you are going to bother to try to defend the evil one aka Russ Martin - you are just spinning your wheels here.

No matter how this story turns out - the people here have already made up their mind about Russ and will just say someone is "spinning" the story - heck they have already said that.

Seriously - read the entire thread and do yourself a bigger favor - search up Russ on this message board - and read through some of the threads - this place has never had anything but venom for Russ and that's fine - everyone is entitled to their own opinion - nothing wrong with that.

The problem is these very same people let their venom get in the way of rational and independent thought when they started clinging to comments from a blog for a local independent newspaper as fact and burning Russ in effigy!! Seriously - no facts just rumors posted on message boards and comments on a BLOG attached to a LOCAL independent newspaper..... this was the source of the information! GOD KNOWS that a BLOG on the Dallas OBSERVER is the place to go for FACT!

But what does it matter - if it comes out Russ beat an old woman, stomped her dog then hit his girlfriend to celebrate and fired his gun at a mentally retarded kid then this place will celebrate because that is a victory to them for some reason. Misery loves company? Not to sure how that works but whatever.

And if it comes out that this was a huge misunderstanding or even Russ was defending himself from someone who hated him (hell could even be a poster on this place!) it won't matter - it will all just be a corporate spin job according to this place and someone will hear from a friend of their uncle who used to groom the dog of the chick who lives across the street from the guy who overheard the girl who dates the guy who went to school with the guy who operates the board on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3am-4:15am that corporate is involved in a big cover up to "save Russ"! Then they will post it here like its fact from a "reliable" yet un-named source.






PS - Not to spread rumors or anything but I heard from a guy who is a VERY reliable source that the reason for the arrest and the FBI being involved was over this picture!!!

So why would he be put on leave? Another fine example of why you probably aren't successful in the business. Common sense. He didn't violate any CBS rules. He is accused of a crime not related to work and not affecting his work whatsoever. If CBS wanted to punish him for something he allegedly did in his personal time, they would have a hell of a lawsuit on their hands.

It depends on the wording of his contract. Either way, CBS will probably choose to leave him on the air. There's no downside. It's not as if 105.3 has a reputation to protect. And if Russ goes away, they'll probably have to flip the format. Might give Greggo some leverage, though.
 
What was he doing with a weapon in the first place? It's going to make KLLI look bad.
