What is shocking is how poor of a job Duke is doing. He sounds over his head.
Remember boys KFRC-AM had a huge stage & wall of sound which made anyone on
the station sound bigger than reality. On FM it sounds smaller, the processing &
mic mix is terrible. The imaging is horrific, other than that pretty good.

Well, not quite - the music is more focused - no 90s hits or the occasional current hit, which Max liked to throw in just to prove they had a big playlist and could play what they "felt like." But in terms of other content, KFRC is actually worse. Whether you liked or hated those supposedly humorous "Maxwell" interludes, at least they provided some content other than the music. KFRC so far is just the music with the same dozen or so imagers replayed over and over.
I know they're not programming the station to please the relatively few people who post at radio-info.com - but why did they go to all the trouble of hyping the new DJs and the "spirit of KFRC?"

Im not immpressed with the Station,, The Vo guy is about as much fun as watching wet paint dry,,BORING,,,The only thing positive is JMF and Celeste Perry!! Why cant KFRC listen to what people want? On KRTH theres alot more DJ input, KFRC is lacking the DJ,, they are a huge part of the station, maybe not here,,, Track some one overnite,,JJ Stone Sam Van Zandt,, Im not into the juke Box format, And the Bus stops in Concord ,WC and Laffayette, have the most Generic KFRC advertisments ever seen!! Dull Bland,, Liven it up !!!Its not like you guys have a full staff, or pay big bucks for your VO guy!! When his times up Just let JMF do all VO!!! Make it sound like it used to,,,,,,70s style!!! Because "maybe" they're going after KOIT or they just want to be a jukebox? No Passion for the format because someone just wants a paycheck?
What they need to do is bring back Gary Bryan and get another J. Paul Emerson type of personality to be on with him, then hire "a real medium" to get in touch with "the real Spirit of KFRC."

There will never be another DUO like those two,, that was so entertaining and un believable morning fun! Sept of 93, when they had their debut show i was hooked,, J,
Paul Emerson had a way about him, no one could immitate him, The GM David Bramnick had his hands full with all the complaints they recieved on those two, and having joe ike fill in constantly!! There was a diiferent type of radio,, the Billboards said "more yelling, less music" Wow back then those two ruled the morning,, Im stymied why its so different now! The news the way J .Paul did it was some of the best delivery ive ever heard here!! WOW, you guys are TOUGH !!! Oh, BUT YOU'RE RIGHT TOO. I thought I was the only one hearing the less this LESS than steller presentation! Apparently Not! Of course when it's this sounds this lame, it's hard to keep folks from noticing.
HEY, Good News everyone! I heard a new liner today...(There is a God LKeller) This one took a Cheap shot at Daly City for being foggy...Nice, piss off people who may just have diary's...here is an idea, Get a Person who knows how to write for radio, and knows the Bay Area.
Preston/Jordan...The liners are Smart Ass NOT Smart ! And not funny.
Also, just thinking out loud now...Get a producer for the morning show who knows somthing about producing morning radio shows. Is this the best he/you can do? Sholin must feel like he's on the Titanic listening to the speech about it being unsinkable. This guy a was a former PD? No wonder he isn't one anymore. I think he spent too much time doing budgets for CC, and not enough listening to the radio. "Gee Dave you're Great!!!, Oh and don't worry about the water.
Yesterday I heard Huey Lewis Songs 2 times in 55 mins...On the morning show,within the same hour. But there is good news! At least they were different songs. I guess the "Selector" was on a break !
Tuesday and Wednesday I heard "Lights" within 5 mins of it self 2 days in a row.
The Mic Mix and the Processing...Phil Lerza White Courtesy Telephone Please. Question Phil? Are they letting you do your job? Or are the 5 PD's on staff handeling that too? Phil is one of the finest engineers in radio...So whats the deal? Is he on Vacation? Or is he suddenly deaf?
But the most shocking thing of all on this station is the stunning lack of content. Buy a newspaper, Hell, the Examiner is free! Could you try and do somthing besides the standard Show Prep Lighter Side Crap. Good God, the same bits are on every station. Of course, once again Celeste manages to get some in, even though she has to motor through it...But The AM/PM shows sound like recycled People magazine.

Let me go on the air at KFRC I used to be able to imitate most of the male voices at the old "FRC and I did dj, with a little creative freedom no one would ever notice it wasn't the real McCoy, and you would think you were back in the day. Don't worry CBS you could afford me and I think I could hold the radio listeners attention a little bit longer. I had high hopes for some of the air staff but the morning show is a big disapointment and the pm drive is not far behind. One more question what happened to the late night and weekend air folks. People are not going to wait much longer. At this point KFRC will end up sinking and joining the "famous" call letter graveyard.

Sorry to disappoint you, PB, but that Daly City liner is not new - you just missed it before. Have you caught Steve Moore's night time "show"? It appears to consist entirely of running all the same liners that they already run all day long.
As for any comparison to KOIT - I can't believe I'm defending that annoying station, but they actually DO let the drive time people open the mic a little and do more than just read those "light talk" liners. Jack Culp and Lori Sanders are given a minute or two to talk about sfuff. They're both likable and intelligent, and add some content to the format. No - they're not Dr. Don Rose or John Mack Flanagan...but they're OK.
What's bugging me about KFRC is that this is not typical of the local CBS stations. I don't listen to Alice or Live 105 often, but I've noticed that their DJs do have some time to talk, and add content to their respective formats. You know, I really want to like this station. I just can't believe they are not letting the Airstaff have some freedom to relate to their audience. The music is fine, but it is kind of an I-Pod with commercials.
They have hired some nice, bright, talented people, I think they need to trust them to do the jobs they are very capable of doing, and that the audience is expecting to hear because they have heard these folks before, and know that they can do it.
