So Did anybody give Danny Bonaduce a listen?

I totally forgot to check him out. I tuned in almost right at the end and he was talking to Dee Snider. Then he talked to a local caller that just was praising him.

Didn't hear that much, but it didn't sound like anything good or bad. Just a morning show that was there.

Does anyone want to take bets on when he'll be challenging somebody to box him and who it will be? Unless he already did that this morning.

My bet is next week Tuesday and it'll be Michael Klein or Larry Mendte.

I recorded the first show and took a listen to the first hour so far. He sounds like John Debella, too much smokin. The first hour was spent talkin bout Eagles, bit 'bout LA VS. Philly. Seems a bit self centerd, but that could be just be him tryin to get Philly to know him as a person. Who am I to judge, though? Its the first day so who knows. Have to check out the rest of the show.

Thank you for the links. :D I'm down here in Dover DE and YSP doesn't come in that well. That and I'm a currently unemployed nightowl so I'll listen on the download. ::)

Maybe someone should communicate to this A-Hole...(washed up child idiot) that his voice is totally annoying. His delivery is a total turn-off...and THAT will be proved in forthcoming ratings. Maybe he should find his cross-over LOVER and move away far away from anything broadcasting. Maybe.....a Transvestite Bar in Philly. Good luck Danny Boy! YOU SUCK!

The only thing missing from today's show was a reason to listen tomorrow.

For market #7, I'd expect someone doing AM drive on a big corporate FM station to hit the ground running with something more than an interview with someone from the Inquirer.

DITTOS!

Didn't and Won't.

I'm TRULY tired of syndication. It's a waste of good money. If I wanted to hear syndication, i'd subscribe to XM/Sirius or listen online. If one more former TV/music star, with nothing better to do but take away jobs from people that entered the business because they love it, replaces a local host, I'll go medieval.....

Um...he is live and local...might want to check the facts before the rant...

How much is he making is a really good question.

He just settled his divorce and he has to play $16k a month for child support. That's $192k a year. Let's assume that's about half of his income. So I'd say he's getting 400-500k a year.

This is pretty lame math, but he's at least gotta be making a lot more than 200k from CBS just to live. I'm TOTALLY assuming he doesn't have much money from anything else. Partridge Family, reality show... But who knows, I'm wrong a lot.

The thing that gets me is this. CBS (along with everybody else.) is firing people left and right. Good, hard working, loyal, long time people. They're firing people from the air, from the back offices and engineers. Literally, it's a slaughter.

And yet, they have money to pay out to a show that will do nothing. I've heard so many people say.... "Can you say David Lee Roth?" Granted Bonaduce has radio chops. He's not going to set the world on fire. Give him a year or even two to do the show and he won't even be a blip on Preston and Steve's radar. It'll be the show that's just there. A guy and a girl yakking about today's topics. BORING! I don't care what Bonaduce's take is on anything. Plus he'll be talking about himself half the time.

And when it finally comes to an end, we'll all say, "I told you so." And then they'll find the next thing they think will be lightning in a bottle. Instead of trying to actually develop some talent. I know nobody wants to hear this, but Kidd Chris got a bum rap. That was the closest thing to a great variety radio show we've had in a long time. Granted it was low brow.

Sorry for the rant! But I really miss good radio! Remember when WYSP had Stern and O&A? Being at work hasn't been that enjoyable in years!

Danny Bonaduce was on WLUP in Chicago for years and had a decent show there, it wasn't all about him on the show and he had a decent audience. He's not a newbie to radio by any means. He was on the air in Chicago well over 10 years ago.

I am not so sure that his new show won't make the grade. He KNOWS Philly, extemely quick whitted, connected and from all I have recently read, he is in a good place in his life now.

On another note, I would guess CBS may have signed him with reasonable base pay and outlandish bonuses, only payable if the show gets some traction.

He got in radio as his last chance, a program director hired him only if he would use the name Danny Partridge,so, he has his Partridge family run ,the only reason he's in this business, if he was a regular jock with no past, I don't think he would have had it so easy to get hired.

I said he's got chops. Between Chicago, L.A. and now Philly, when do you think his show will stick? He keeps getting recycled and I can't figure out why. If the show in Chicago was so great, what happened? Did Mancow run him out of town?
