yo, Paulie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both Cities have older population, but trends are similiar. MOYL died in Tampa and is dying in Pgh. Here are some comparisons
1) 2 competing country outlets
2) Each has a CHR owned by CC and they are similiar
3) One really big talker on AM
4) Several sports talkers
5) one Hot AC
6) one mainmstream AC with Delilah
7) Lots of brokered AM
8) One classic hits station
9) One Urban
10) One Classic Rock
,
Tampa: a failing smooth jazz, Spanish on AM and FM,a Churban, a jockless soft AC, an 80"s stations
Pittsburgh: A "BOB", a secondary AC, an FM talker
Pittsburgh has been slower to eliminate jocks as Tampa has Cox Radio which has run jockless stations for years.
Neither market has a AAA , an Urban AC on FM, nor a gospel outlet on commercial radio. No commercial classical. Tampa has many more religious outlets .
What would I do to fix it? Stop firing good talent and go live and local 24/7 in all formats.
Got a horse right here--------------------------------
