The Next What's Next

Ok, here's the skinny: Citadel is going to give WIVK to me. Tax purposes, don'cha know. Everybody wins. Especially me.

Gonna use the employee discount at WalMart to get office supplies and such.

Upon closing the deal, am going to institute a new dress code for the SalesBabesTM. How about a Catholic school uniform? And I want to get one of those miniature ponies for Gunner to ride during remotes. And a new Frog costume for Mr. Hammond's exclusive use at political functions.

Maybe Johnny would let me use some of his money. I'd give him a percentage of the company and insist that it be called Cowboy Pirkle Broadcasting Corporation. We would require all employees to be able to say the initials of the company without stumbling. We would not, however, have them refer to the company publicly by its initials.

We would have a LOCAL tone-deaf monkey decide the playlist. It would be an immediate step up from the out-of-state tone-deaf monkey currently in Citadel's employ.

That, and Fridays would be clothing optional.

I would also get a really good fire system for the research director's office. I'm concerned about the whole 'pants-on-fire' issue with regards to the safety of my new employees.

Or maybe the station could just be truthful from that point forward.

And keep available some kind of chair covers for those who participate in clothing optional Fridays. Sorry jetfli, that ship sailed years ago for you. Hope you have a new chair now.

If you won the lottery and got 15 million dollars...
Would you buy News Talk 98.7?
If you did what format would you put on it?

Nope, I wouldn't buy 98.7. They're giving me 107.7. Clothing-optional Friday wouldn't work with those guys, anyway.

OK...So why's nobody talking about the announced plans by Cit to change 99.1 and 99.3? ???

So what's the real story??? :-X Somebody out there knows! Heck, they even talked about it on the air on the Spots Animal! What's the deal??

CJ

How will this move take place with WPBX in Crossville TN and WNRX in Jefferson City TN both less than 50 miles away on 99.3?

http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bi...mat=&dx=3&radius=200&freq=99.3&sort=freq&sid=

In case you hadn't noticed, 99.3 is a simulcast of 99.1 owned by Citadel.

If Citadel had transferred 107.7 to me, today would have been clothing optional Friday. And the SalesBabes would have been booked solid with appointments.

We now return you to Masterpiece Theatre.

Ok, seriously and high-levelishly... Everybody's jockeying for best position both on the air and on the street. Lots of one day sales with added value promises lately. The larger guys are the hungriest, it seems.

Well, into the fourth page ::) and still not a thing here about how the Sports stations are being improved!

I guess Tim Bearies daughter will be singing at the dedication of a new tower ;) before we hear anything here about what's going on!

The question is....what's being done and what station is really being improved??? Anyone....???

CoolJazz

CJ... I'm just wondering if this news is going to wind up eventually propping up the expensive programming (and the June improvement promise) on 98.7 instead of improving the sports guys.

And it seems like everybody is cash-hungry right now. Want a $25 ROS on a decent 100kw station for the holidays?

Well now, that'd be a real bummer!!

But they announced it on The Sports Animal. Haven't heard anybody say they said anything on 98.7! Seems odd...if it was going to go towards helping 98.7, you'd think they'd have been talking about it over there. Cause if it's to help 98.7, I can't see how it could help the Sports coverage. It may not be "The Big One", but 98.7 covers Knoxville a lot better than the Sports does! Have trouble getting it anywhere but in the truck! Surely a town the size of Knoxville should get one good sports station!

But then, I guess it's hard to know what they could get the FCC to go along with...

CoolJazz

It's still open, mindless speculation on my part. There's got to be more pressure on 98.7 than there is the three Sports Animal signal.

This info has been out there for several weeks and is precisely why I said:

"The next what's next will make you think of Deana Carter's "Did I shave my legs for this?"

Book it!"
