The Wolf Becomes Sports Radio 95.7

Stunting right now ... Sharks and A's images on website.

Playing A's, Sharks, Raiders and Stanford (plus some syndicated NBA) play-by-play snippets in stunting audio...

These programers just run out of ideas look at what just happened to KTRB I know it was on the AM side but will it make a differance being on the FM? it might be a good place for someone like the A's that needs a good stable home but that being said I think KNBR (680) and The Ticket (1050) has it locked up.

Yeah, well....not like The Wolf was doing much better....

Listening online ... can anyone confirm if the online audio parallels the over the air? Now playing "Na Na Hey Hey" by Steam between P-B-P stunting.

Last country song played, according to the online player: "Come Back Song" by Darius Rucker at 10:01 AM.

Schizophrenic 'header' on their site for now:
Sports Radio 95.7 The Bay Area's ONLY FM Sports Station Today's Country And Your All Time Favorites

Are there other country stations remaining that can be heard clearly throughout much of SF?
Judging by the ratings, this appears to be a tough market for country.

Not surprised. This will put to rest rumors of a 105.3 The Fan. And this should be the final nail in KTRB's sports coffin.

The Bay Area been a tough market for country for the last 2 decades. The last country station to fail was The Bear, also on 95.7. The Wolf seemed to break the curse with some good ratings initially, but it didn't last.

Out of Market stations can be picked up throughout the market. Froggy 92.9 covers the North Bay and Marin, KRTY also covers SF, Oakland and the South Bay, Kat Country 103 covers the Tri-Valley, and KNCI covers Contra Costa. Since most country listeners are in the East Bay Suburbs, maybe country would be a good format for KUIC,KKDV, or KKIQ

Wonder why a combination of country music, with personalities, and sport wouldn't work? Gives the station a music format for those hours when there really isn't anything else to add to the sports coverage. Maybe a crossover country and pop oldies approach, heavy on personalities with sports guests and callers from time to time, to go together with the sports stuff they're going to cover in the afternoons and evenings. 24 hours may be hard to make interesting as the 4th all or mostly sports outlet in a market -- until it outperforms the others and grabs their contracts and shows.

Maybe they will pick up the sports shows from KTRB? Today is supposed to be Ken Dito's last day at KTRB also. Maybe today will mark another format change or going silent at KTRB?

There have been several zips in Santa Clara County that have been good for country. Aside from those, they're mostly clustered in Sonoma and Solano Counties. The suburban country stations will continue to do fine, but it's pretty tough to make it in the greater Bay Area.
