Walton & Johnson looking for a new Flagship?

I just checked the KKRW website and don't see a mention of W&J. I also heard they are looking for a new Flagship. Anybody know or hear anything about this?

Appears that W&J are out at KKRW. Not a fan of W&J, but still. Looks like the Eagle has an advantage now.... a local morning show.

If Lex & Terry down in Florida can go through as many different flagship stations, I'm sure W&J will land another one before long...

I don't see it happening anywhere else in Houston. Where would they go? Only companies left are Cox and CBS and neither of them have a format here they would fit. I also don't think either would go for W&J's kind of show anyway

Their Facebook page says they were told the station was going in "another direction:, i.e. format change.

Sports Radio 93-7?

Not that you're being entirely serious but if you are, what would they put there? 790's signal is too good to waste a 100K FM on a simulcast (and where 790's night signal is scratchy to the north, KKRW isn't exactly a powerhouse either).

W&J gone? ;D ;D ;D Finally, something good happens on these boring airwaves. Hopefully this is a sign for a format flip. Classic hits anyone?

I think KKRW would be great as a sports station, and I think it would be the best radio home for The Rockets & The Astros. Good to listen to some great sports action in high-quality, bone-crunching FM stereo sound.

Sports talk is looking likely for 93.7. Perhaps CBS could flip 101.1 to Mainstream or Active Rock and use W&J to anchor mornings. Love em or hate em they do bill very well on many stations they are on.

790's night signal has a number of holes that listeners have complained about on air. Charlie Pallilo also laments the problems his show encounters with the early winter sunsets. Same problems during the morning commute.

The KKRW signal is not quite as good as the other MC sticks, but is more than adequate to cover the market.

Why would CBS give up on Mega? Mega is still number one beating its competitor TU MÚSICA 104.9 ON UNIVISION.

KHMX is a more likely flip than Mega, although I still wouldn't completely rule out KILT-FM.

Clear Channel putting sports on 93.7 would certainly force some tough decisions at the CBS cluster.

Come to think of it, I can remember the signal dropping out in parts of Sugar Land when I was down there for work, and I once it heard it almost completely fade being dropped at IAH to fly back to Ohio several years ago. That said, my home and office were in areas where I could always hear 790 well, so that colors my judgment.
Is KTRH's night signal that bad to the north that a simulcast is needed? Never lived in a null and never have read too many reception reports from 50-100 miles north of Houston at night.
