WFLZ-WMTX-WFUS Moving Antennas?

93.3, 94.9 and 101.5 are all on the new antenna. The move of 100.7 and 103.5 has been delayed by government red tape. The new antenna is also quite a bit higher than the old antenna on the channel 8 tower. The new antenna is a Dielectric, 8-bay FM-Vee.

I've got pix, but, how much higher where the ROI would be worth the expense of the move.

Is it possible they made the move while the gettin' was good?

It's FAA red tape, ATC (American Tower) IMHO is the one holding the ball, the FAA Interference study was done by them and supposedly they knew the FAA failed it without telling anyone. I don't blame CC for keeping the HD off since it moved those transmitters first. So no HD until ATC gets FAA approval. The stupid thing is all those stations operated form the "same vicinity" for years with no problem, this is a classic government beaurcracy at it's best. Let's not let the radio engineers do their jobs, some 20 year old with some software at the FAA knows much better.........right?

I'm digging up this thread since I started it nearly a year ago and there still appears to be no resolution. Last update on why the Clear Channel HD signals remain off was in June. They're still not on the air now in November 2011. What gives? Any updates?

Glad I haven't invested in an HD Radio ;D
I did. It is a wasted investment for someone who is a casual listener.

I put a Visteon Jump in my taxi. The only station that is stable as I drive around Sa-ra-so-ta! is "Trippin' 102.5". Everything else blanks out and goes back to the unwanted hd-1. Very annoying.

I can't believe it. The HD signals are back on today. Ironic how I just refreshed this thread 3 days ago and they suddenly appear on air after being off for over 5-6 months.

That'll learn ya.

Be careful what you ask for, you just got it.

allow me to explain...the HD transmitters had been converted to analog sometime ago while all the moves were ongoing. They needed to stay @ Boyette until the backup transmitters where moved and fully functional. With the months delay everything stayed as is until we could move everything because of all the craziness. Yea it sucked and was a pain but it is what it is. Thank you for patiently waiting ;D

Thanks, for sharing.

Is all that work, complete, now? Or at least that project?

So, why did the FAA get involved? Are they also a renter?

Is the new WFLZ signal really better? The old one was fantastic.

Well considering I know a business up here in Citrus County that plays WFLZ on the enter-com I say so. That is in a Building a good 70 miles from the Riverview Farm. WWRM is also fairly stable up here.

They went from 100kW @ 414 meters to 100kW @ 472 meters, with a small geographic change (They went 2.5kM south).
So yes, the signal would be much better.

In American English, that means they added 190ft. and moved a mile and a half south.

If Rig had a hand in the processing.....not a surprise that it sounds good. The man has a golden ear when it comes to setting the audio.
