Speaking of John Lynch, Pacific Spanish Network, ect, is it possible 1700 could increase power to 50kw non-directianl or will that not make a differnce local ground wave wise due to it being on a high frequency.

The regional Mexican, Canadian and US agreement is for 10 kw day and 1 kw night on the X Band channels.

I dimly recall an article in the Reader several years ago about the licensee of XETRA at the time. If I remember correctly, the article said that the man had been concieved of an American father, maybe a Noble, and a Mexican mother so that as a Mexican citizen he could hold the license for the station. Again, if I remember correctly, the article was rather uncomplimentary concerning the fellow, it said he tooled around town in a Rolls Royce leaving behind a trail of unpaid debts. Does this ring a bell? A colorful story involving yet another colorful owner.

And a question, is this Nobel family of the same Nobles that were involved with the founding of ABC in 1941 or so?

I thought Nobel was the LMA for XETRA, and XETRA Communications was the licence holder. Currently PRISA ownes the LMA of XETRA 690 and is the licence holder.

XETRA AM is owned by Televisa Radio's subsidiary. Televisa Radio is operated by PRISA and nearly half owned by them.

PRISA can not be the license holder as it is a Spanish company. PRISA owns the legal maximum of Televisa Radio, who owns XETRA (AM).

Noble actually owned the licensee until it transferred to a person in the ACIR group (owned part by Clear Channel) who did the US Sales RIghts deal with Clear for the US. Ed Noble was a Mexican citizen, and had a big agency in Mexico, Noble & Asociados in Mexico City.

I do not think so. Ed Noble was an ad agecy owner in Mexico City (the biggest agency in the country for a while).

I thought 690's licence holder was XTRA Commincations during the time Clear Channel had the LMA, or is XTRA Commincations the same as Grupo ACIR, the same people who operate XHRST 107.7 FM.

The Newspaper in question does not have a good track record when it comes to accuracy on these sorts of things...

I am pretty sure it is just a shell company, which has moved between owners. During the CCU era, the licensee was owned by ACIR, I believe. ACIR owns aobut 150 stations.

So XTRA Communications is a spin off of Grupo ACIR, that explains why when (FCB) aquired Z90.3, 91X, and Magic 92.5 the licencing had to go to Xersia.

Xersia Communications the licence holder of Z90.3, 91X, and Magic 92.5 is not the same as XTRA Communicatons right.

Just like the US, many companies use different licencee corporations for different stations or gorups. Then a larger company owns all of the shares of the smaller ones. Without seeing a corporate registro from Mexico, that question can not be answered.
