It's important to note that Radio 105.7 won't be all voice tracked- both Aly and Jordin Silver will be based live and locally.

LOL at BOTH....wow a whopping two personalities....awesome!! Ha ha .....CC destroyed radio!!

Actually, it's 3 live a local personalities...Jordin, Aly and Kevin Cruise (who's sticking around from WiLD.)

Well Atlanta You ask for it and you got it Radio 105.7 those of you who all used to listren to former CBS Radio 92.9 Dave-FM. But dont forget to check out Atlanta's internet radio station EAVradio at http://eavradio.com/
Radio 105.7 is playing Rock Alternative/AAA and its also on iheartradio app as well.

^So far, IMO this is a lot better than Dave FM was - way more currents, and the gold tracks were actually hits (not just random album cuts the PD happens to like)

Sometime in the past few hours they started to pitch songs, and sound more like Modern Hot AC

AAA/Alternative is back in Atlanta

Attention! Attention!! Its BACK! This time its at Clear Channel's 105.7
(Radio 105.7) Atlanta's AAA and Alternative is back. All the former 92.9 Dave FM fans GOOD NEWS Atlanta's AAA/Alternative is back in Atlanta Ga. WILD 105.7 have change to Radio 105.7 Atlanta's Alternative check it out NOW!

This was a much needed and obvious move for Clear Channel to make. In all honesty, I'm trying to figure out what took them so long!!!

This is the type of music direction and presentation that DaveFM should have adopted a few years ago.

This new format likely won't grab massive numbers, but it should fare much better than the abandoned Urban format, attract far more salable demos, and achieve solid results in P18-34. The station most likely to hemorrhage AQH share from 105.7's flip is Star 94. I don't believe the impact to them will be severe, but it will be noticeable.

Also seems to me that this choice of format is highly compatible with the zip codes best served by 105.7's city grade signal.

Just read on Mami Chula's Twitter page that she's moving to Power middays from 10am to 12noon. So, is Seacrest gonna be from Noon to 4pm now, with Sonic from 4pm to 7pm?

Wished they would have made the move over to 105.3 instead but hey, maybe if they prove themselves, that can come.

Alternative can take two routes:

1 - The first route tends to more in the active rock field. This would be like 105.7 The Point out of St. Louis. Emphasis on the harder edge of alternative and the crossover alternative/active rock artist. 99X did this towards the end

2- The second route is more indie. This will suffice the AAA and "true" alternative fans with artist like Electric Guest, Matt and Kim, Two Door Cinema, Cold Play and Florence and the Machines.

I think 105.7 will go in the middle. They are going to dig deeper in the alternative list that 99x did towards the end of 99x however, it will not go as far as more of the west coast alternative rock station (because it's still a CC station).

So far, considering what we had before, I like it. I think it will improve over the next 6 weeks or so. Right now, very familiar and very repetitive but hopefully, they will expand some. They will stay away from the harder stuff like Tool. I'm basing this on Radio 1045 out of Philly which is also a clear channel station. The more harder edge alternative would be similar the The Buzz out of Houston Texas which skews active. This will NOT be a cd 102.5.

So far, it sounds exactly like that, in the middle. And if this has anything in common with the other CC Alternatives (minus WRFF and KTBZ), it will continue to go right down the middle.
I'm rather confused about why everyone is comparing this to Dave, as it sounds NOTHING like Dave did. It's a straight-up Alternative format which sounds a lot like 99x did, just with a lot more recurrents/gold material.
I hope it expands the playlist, as it is a bit too recurrent/gold heavy for my tastes, (only 3 currents in the last 16 played as one sample and all three are pretty big hits) but it's great for a start! Well wishes to the new format!

X-98.5 here in Greenville started out with a very gold-based playlist but as the station established itself they started going more current, and are now pretty good with new stuff. Hopefully 105.7 will be the same way.

I don't think Radio 105.7 is going to go either of those directions - judging from the past few hours, I think Clear Channel is going after Star with a Hot AC/Alternative hybrid, especially with the CHR-type imaging they're using, and the frequency of the currents

Looking at Star's ratings, I think it's a good idea...

Just curious, atlantaboy, where do you get the idea of it being more of a Hot AC/Alt hybrid? Digging through the yes.com playlist for the station since launch, it's not playing anything that you wouldn't expect on an Alternative station, especially one owned by Clear Channel. It doesn't really sound any more Hot AC than any other Alternative station out there. Now, you could argue that this station is more of a hybrid because that's where the Alternative format is going, meaning most Alt-rockers are going in that direction, and I'd agree with you there, at least with the currents.

On another note, I've been streaming this all day at work (a very slow week at the office) and started streaming again an hour or so ago and this is the 2nd time TODAY I've heard "Float On", "Steady As She Goes", and "Clint Eastwood". Come on, guys, you're better than this.

Don't get caught up with comparing this station with either Dave or Star.

Dave was a AAA formatted station. Some of the songs on Dave will be heard on this station but then some songs from 99x will also be heard.

Star is Hot AC and rather it be Hot AC or Top 40, alternative songs reach these stations after months on the alternative charts. For example, you can hear Hey Ho on Hot AC but NOT stubborn Love.... yet.

As soon as Stubborn Love gets more and more airplay, it will finally reach star and perhaps even q100. Have you ever heard of Hotblack? Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeb08Y_iAuM

Right now, this song is on the alternative charts. Give it a few months and by this summer, Star will have it. Alternative and active rock are very different formats and tend to be less "hard". Lots of people are saying that this station sounds a lot like Star only because Star has been around and this station is new. However, the alternative songs that star play have been on alternative stations for months and months. Monsters of Men's new one is a perfect example... Alternative radio has been playing it for sometime and Star is still doing the Little Talks.

The person from Greenville speaking about X98.5 is very much right when he/she mentioned the station was stuck with a small playlist at first with lots of 90s re-currents. That changed after about a month or two on the air. I'm hoping Radio 105.7 will do the same. They just played two different muse songs within a total of 6 songs. Not good but hoping that will change and adjust with time.

Hate to nitpick, but it might be nice for some people to brush up on modern alternative rock music. The Lumineers' hit is "Ho Hey", and the artists are "Of Monsters and Men", "Florence and the Machine" and "Coldplay." Don't want to be "that guy", but my OCD levels were starting to elevate.

What brought me here was my inability to get on the WiLD 105.7/96.7 website. At first I thought facebook was just having their usual page malfunctions (especially with the new facenbook page design that's currently in the process of changing from the old to new look). Then I thought about it and realized that there may be another reason why I cannot get on their page... And sure enough, I come here and find THIS.

Anyway, like I said months to a year ago, you never know what the future holds. Everyone was upset and complaining thinking that because alternative and rock disappeared that meant Atlanta radio would forever be doomed. That's when I said that you never know what the future holds and just because things are one way now it doesn't mean that things couldn't change or get any better down the road.

Well I'm happy for Atlanta, although I did like the pure rhythmic version of WiLD. I think Power can handle things on their own, however. Now they just need to make sure to promote this new format to come on 105.7/96.7 once its launched so people will know it's there.

I hope this doesn't happen. All my favorite stations in Atlanta always go away. :( I really wish Wild would have went to 96.1 oh well thank God for internet streams and Pandora :)

Isn't that pretty much what happened? WILD was moved, in terms of playlist (except with a less rhythmic lean), to 96.1, as Power. WILD was probably kept around to see if Atlanta can have a more rhythmic CHR flank another, more popish CHR. It did not work at all.

Even I would choose the pop station playing similar songs with a big clear signal over another rhythmic station that I might favor more on a weak static filled station that requires some effort to hear.

I'm sure Power will pick up some of the rhythmic hits that no other stations will recognize.

But I will admit that I care less about WiLD flipping since they started to shift more pop than rhythmic. Two ClearChannel stations delivering more poppy hits and sounding very similar was too much. If WiLD was going to shift pretty much towards the same direction as Power then the signals might as well be used for something else.

Probably would've been a better move with Radio 105.3. Then put Patron on 105.7... but not sure if they wanted to flip around more than one station and have the listeners get a little confused and lost in the process.

Re: AAA/Alternative is back in Atlanta

96.7 WWLG is simulcast 105.7 still with Radio 105.7 That why they have a CHR powerhouse on 96.1 WWPW.
