WJZX FM 106.9 FM Flipped

They're moving to the station's HD sub channel. I'm hearing that they're switching to Top 40. Maybe this will be our true top 40 station and WXSS can finally go all the way Rhythmic

It's still kind of sad to see them go

EDIT: Yeah, it looks like it's gonna be a CHR

I'm pretty excited about this

This is good news. But then again it could be the other way around, since they're keeping the same airstaff.

As for WXSS, if they do go Rhythmic, they'll be in good company and Entercom does have Rhythmics that have excellent ratings (KDGS/Wichita and WNVZ/Norfolk). Can't wait to see who'll make the next move.

I wish them luck making any impact outside of Milwaukee and Waukesha at all on that 106.9 frequency; I remember I really loved them when they were "The Point" back in the 90's, but the signal is lousy north of Port Washington and is gobbled up by WWJR-106.5 in Sheboygan. Plus Kiss FM and WIXX pretty much dominate in their markets and WIXX gets alot of spillover into Ozaukee County this time of year. It could work if 106.9 does it right.

However, the signal is trouble as it's short-spaced to protect a country station across the lake in Muskegon. The smooth jazz fans might as well just lick their wounds and tune to XM/Sirius or MPTV-36.5 since the HD signal dies west of Waukesha. And one of the things about Saga (at least in Milwaukee) is they do their older music formats very well (KLH and The Hog), but they can't do others to save their lives (At best WJMR is tolerable, but you take Tom Joyner out it might as well be a unlistenable robo-format from who knows where).

I'm listening to "The Tiger" here in Lake Geneva. I can get stereo, but not HD.

The liners are hilarious, with the references to "Tiger Radio" being the station for cheaters & those who've been cheated on. Also "The infidelity station". That's a good hook, but I can see those Tiger Woods references getting old very fast.

I don't know if their format will ultimately be Top 40, but since 10am they've been been playing songs that hint at, or directly refer to sex. Songs like: "Touch Me", "You Shook Me all Night Long", "I Touch Myself" & "I Want You're Sex".

We'll see if there's a flip an noon. I'm not thinking so. I think these songs/liners will continue though Memorial Day & come on with the real format on Tuesday.

They do have a "Tiger Radio" website: http://www.tiger1069.com

Now that weblink (to Now 106.9) isn't working. There were some rumblings over the past 24 hours that 106.9 might go all-sports. That's not a bad plan, especially at this point. There's no way that they can win a head to head with 97.3 AND 103.7 Kiss FM - they lack the signal.

It's getting interesting, that's for sure.

Wow....didn't see this coming at all.

Well, as long as we have another Top 40 I'm happy. I like 103.7, but it's pretty much a Rhythmic disgusied as a Top 40.

I never liked 103.7 Kiss FM. And I'm sad that the Brew is gone - that was one of the best stations around in this yucky market. They need WPVL X107.1 to stream online! That looks like a real CHR! If that format goes to all sports on 106.9 what a waste. Sports should only be on AM radio.

Just a quick question: Why do you like small-market stations? I don't get it...

Anyway, I bet its too let for WJZX to flip to top 40. 97.3 is now CHR as I've heard, which I know most markets can only support 2 top-40's. Maybe rhythmic/urban?

It's not just small market stations, it's any station that plays music I like.

I agree with you, icycool, that talk of any kind...sports, News or talk...is a wasted of an FM signal. But the trend in many markets, (Nashville, D.C., Indy, to name a few) seems to be more toward spoken word formats coming to FM. Christian teaching stations & NPR have been doing it for years.

I just turn 97.3 on today yes it is radio now wqbw milwaukee I was very suprised are they going to go against wxss or is that going to change that also a good station I love to see what my father wood do when he listen to 97.3 that was a shock because it better then 97 the brew

yeah, I was afraid 97.3 was going to be a Hot AC leaning CHR.....but it sounds like a true Top 40. I heard "Haven't Met You Yet" and "This Afternoon", which are both being ignored at KISS

WJZX has a lot of options to go with
1) 90's based CHR
2) Rhythmic AC
3) CHR/Rhythm
4) FM Sports
5) FM News/Talk
6) Triple A

Tell that to Sports WXYT-FM...the #1 rated station in Detroit.
