WWFA St. Florian on the air

I've also noticed some uncensored songs being played, might wanna fix that before someone complains, I'd hate to see a station that hasn't even officially launched yet to get an indecency fine, lol.

Now a bunch of Reggae tonight, with one zeppelin song and two Grateful Dead songs mixed in, someone lighting up a doob in the transmitter room? ahahaah

What are they playing that's uncensored?

I think it may have a lot to do with the format whether anyone complains or not. I don't recall hearing WZRR ever really bleep or censor old classic rock songs and I doubt their audience would complain. If anything, they might complain that the music was messed with, maaaaaan. :)

I've heard a few songs with F*ck or sh*t not cut out, the latest was The Rolling Stones - Some Girls, and yea, WSKZ in Chattanooga still plays Pink Floyd - Money With BS uncensored, I'm sure most couldn't care less about the language, but there's always the stuck up ones that have to ruin it for everyone else all because of a word.

Still mostly reggae, and Shazam hasn't been able to identify most of it either.

Oh dear. I'm pretty sure the f-bomb is disliked pretty much everywhere still. That's what satellite radio is for. ;)

I've also heard some songs with some uncensored material, mostly that word that begins with a G... and a D...

Yes, I strongly dislke that word, so I do what I do when I hear "Sweet Home Alabama" or "Life in the Fast Lane" and just change the channel or turn it down until after that word passes through ;)

What they air is up to them, but I can just imagine the negative feedback that would be heard if this were an unlicensed pirate...

AFAIK that two word curse you don't like hearing is not something the FCC would find actionable anyway, because separately, God and the accompanying damn are not dirty words to them.

I've heard quite a bit of entertainment-oriented talk radio from up north that uses G-D liberally on the air and they've never been fined for it. Come to think of it more than one of those shows aired here in the Deep South at one time or another.

Another F-Bomb, same song again, at 5:33 PM. I was kinda expecting an official launch today, but I guess not.

Just noticed commercials this morning at 8:01, with a TOH ID, a single PSA, then right back to music

Last week I was eating lunch at Popeyes and noticed a STL antenna and tower on top of the building next door. This had not been there before. I've been doing drive bys and noticed some cars there lately. Could this be the location of the studio?

hm, nothing but dead air this morning. could be something about to happen, or it could just be bugs that haven't been or are being worked out.

They're back on tonight with their mix of rock, blues, and country. I'll say that they're the best station around these parts. Too bad it's all a stunt. They'll end up another cookie cutter station.

they're listed on radio info as an adult album station. (AAA). That could be interesting if it launches that way. I guess I should actually try to tune it in....

It's been off air all day, so I went to the suspected studio location I posted about a few days ago. It turns out it IS INDEED the new studios of 102.7 FM. The gentleman I spoke with said he won the station in a poker match and would be changing it to an Oriental format within days, called "Giesha 102". I asked why that format and he told me they did extensive research and discovered a surging asian community in Northwest Alabama that is not being served with music from the Orient. I also asked why it was off air and he said they ran out of coal to power the transmitter. Apparently they create their own energy for the transmitter??? I asked if he was joking and he said he wasn't. He was very serious on both accounts. He said they go thru a boxcar of coal a month.

I went back up to snoop around tonight there is now a sign on the door in Japanese. In english it says "NHK World Radio". Both the General Manager and Engineers names are listed on the sign. The listed phone number is 256-349-2041. I called it and a voicemail picked up with a Chinese guy on the voicemail with very poor english. HAHAHA This is gonna be fun to listen to.

woaaah... at first, I thought this was all just a very big joke. However, I called the phone number, and heard the chinese guy's voicemail greeting. This is gonna be strange...

However, what if this is a stunt within a stunt... what if they are about to stunt as an asian station to gain attention, then flip to a mainstream format?

Personally, I was hoping for a mixture of Spanish Bluegrass and Polka music... now that would be a weird format.... can I request "Azul moon de Kentuckia" ? ;D ;D ;D
