10 AM on 96.9, and...

Ok, so with Pebbles coming to mornings and two very different stunt formats, could we be getting a station like WKTU in New York? The station includes songs from both the urban and dance formats WTKK has stunted with (listening to 'KTU online right now; they just played "Diamonds"). It would eat away at Jamn, Kiss, and Amp, maybe focus on women 25-54 and be a sort of hybrid rhythmic/CHR/dance station. And, Cadillac Jack would be very familiar with 'KTU since he is coming from CC's New York cluster. Anyways, just more speculation.

stunting is stupid. why not just go into the new format. this is stupid. infact, after two stunt formats, i already dont care and will never listen to the station again. the general public doesnt understand stunting or why. im sort of a radio nerd and i dont get it. it doesnt generate excitement, it generates disinterest.

Stunting isn't done for the benefit of the general public entirely. Yes, part of it is to generate buzz but another part is to flush out the listeners of the previous format. They want to start with a clean slate. I find it hilarious when I see people post on station Facebook pages or Twitter that "i hate the new format, you have lost me as a listener". Yeah, that's the point.

The first stunt that I remember was in 1989 or 1990 when WBOS flipped from Country by playing "Take This Job and Shove it" all day then at 3:00 PM went to AAA.

But this is the first time I have heard of multiple stunts.

And they even made more fun of it by announcing that the new format was "Punk Country," complete with reading the lyrics "I want to kick your cow!"

"I want to whip your cow". It's from an old TM promotional CD:

Here's the whole CD:

Can anyone identify the dubstep track that starts off reggae than then goes into something about "on fire"? Really digging that.

Great mix overall. Greater Media should offer it as a podcast after tomorrow. Seriously.

That's Bonfire-Knife Party. Banging track!

Thanks! Just downloaded it. Reminds me of some of the reggae-tinged Jungle stuff I used to spin...um...eighteen years ago (oh Lord). Love the tension between the reggae and the wobbling noise.

I've always liked The Prodigy's "Out of Space".

There are quite a few dubstep songs with reggae riddims. The first one that comes to mind is (First of the year) Equinox-Skrillex

Whoever is programming these formats knows what they are doing. I heard M83's "Midnight City" on Evolution today around 4pm. Then, literally 20 min later, I tuned into Nova and heard it again. Pretty funny.

Check out the Vitamin String Quartet version of that one.... :)

I totally agree on the 96.9 the beat i can even imagine the liners and music beds. btw www.bostonsbeat.com is a dj service so i don't think that has anything to do with wtkk!!

Re: Nova 96.9
