B92 flips the switch to 92.5 THE BOX "IS HIP HOP"

Has either Z or Box played Usher's new song "OMG" as I have not heard yet. Also new thing I noticed on The Box they are just going from song to song and not saying 92.5 The Box in between thats not on all just some.

I noticed them not saying 92.5 The BOX after each song the day the Rickey Smiley Morning Show first aired. I've heard that Usher song while channel surfing on 95SX, not sure about Z, haven't heard it on The BOX. (If i'm listening online its the pop stations thats playing 'OMG' the most.)

Is THE BOX gonna focus more on current hiphop? The oldest songs i've heard so far has been HipHop Hooray, One More Chance, and Tootsie Roll.

Most new stations flood your ears with station positioners between every song until jocks and commercials are added(92.5 never went commercial free). I'd assume since Rickey is on, billboards are up and the numerous Twitter/Facebook followers it's safe to say everybody knows B-92 died and 92.5 The Box is hip-hop. However, I ran across an open position add for a night jock so it maybe a while before The Box has all of its jocks.

Usher's OMG song is hot, but it may take a while for Urbans to play it. Pop and Rhythmics stations will play it more than anything just like they did when B.E.P "Imma Be" first dropped. Iceman, from looking at 92.5's top 100 songs it looks like newer music and hip-hop is the focus. There is a few R&B tracks rotated of course not to loose the female listener. Keep in mind Z93 does a great job with new music, but they are about 50/50 with R&B and Hip-Hop. Z93 also sounds like they daypart the music during the weekdays with fewer Hip-Hop songs between 10am-4pm.

The Box had someone who was supposed to be doing nights, but the deal fell through. Originally they had planned to have a full lineup that Monday after they debuted. That's the reason there was a delay in adding RSMS & Charlamagne, bc they had to rework their plans. Come out swinging, that's how I'd do. I haven't really listened, been busy, but I looked at the playlist, looks good. The Box is more focused. Z is all over the place.

I was thinking about applying for that open job. I went and listened to some airchecks on some of the radio sites, and I can see why alot of these people are unemployed lol. I shouldn't have any problem getting it, looking at the competition. I'm glad 92.5 isn't flooded with imaging, shows confidence, gotta love it.

Sean Mack takes middays 10am-2pm and Jay Tek afternoons 2pm-6pm. Nights are still vacant. Hmmm, not sure bout Sean Mack holding down middays. I'd thought they'd have a female talent fot that daypart. I believe Jay Tek is the new PD.

Wow, nobody aproves of Sean?? LOL! I'm sorry but all the other Urbans will crush them in middays. I was wondering if Devine Martino would make a come back for middays, guess not. With Jay Tek in PD chair I just know 92.5 will start sounding better if Apex and Mike Tee let him do his thing.

I gotta be honest, I haven't been following radio as close as I should, been busy. But what happened to Charlamagne?? What are they doing with him??

If Sean is that bad how do you think about having Kosmo who used to work at 95 sx then went to B 92. Who is now on Power 100.3 up in Myrtle Beach. He also used to work at Mix 97.7 while on in Charleston between sx and b.

Gentleman George is doing nights.

What? He's not PD/Afternoons at BLAZIN 92.3 anymore in Macon,GA? Well, he's no stranger to Chucktown. He did program HOT 98.9 and he also worked at WPAL Rhythm 100.9.

Hey, I've been watching this trend for a minute and I think ya'll would be happy to hear this. Jay Tek has got a movement going on with the hottest dj's in the Chuck. Monday and Wednesday nights @ 9pm the CarolinaKidd DJ D-Nyce will be spinning, Tuesday and Thursday nights the Infamous DJ Cleve will be spinning @ 9pm. On Fridays they will be having Thundakat Radio w/ Thundakat DJ's DJ Tantrum and DJ Kub (both know how to rock the club trust me lol) on Fridays and Saturday's starting @ 8pm. 92.5 The Box is about to be a major problem in this City. It's a movement!!!! O can't forget about DJ Frosty and Charlamagne Tha God SDM (Stupid Dope Moves) holding it down Saturday Nights from 12-2am as well. The got the heavy weights. I guess with Jay Tek being the new PD he is having his way with the programming. Just wanted to give ya'll some insight that I thought ya'll would like to hear especially my fellow Chucktown radio head! :D

Yea, Jay Tek is a beast!!! He show'd out in Augusta turning FOXIE 103 JAMZ around to the station it should've been. He's also dope on the turntables too. I ask'd him bout mixing at 5pm and he said it's coming, hopefully he'll be the one mixing. Finally, mixing until 2am on the weekends again in Charleston. I'm suprised they didn't go the route of the live club broadcast on weekends. However, I know Charleston doesn't have many decent hip-hop clubs and the clubs close at 2am.

92.5 THE BOX is bout to run Chucktown!!!! I just hope Z93 can keep up. I wonder will THE BOX have a annual summer concert in the future? like Birthday Bash in ATL (Hot 107.9) or Summer Jam in NYC (HOT 97)?????? It would be nice to have one in The Charlie O.....

I agree, but take in consideration that Z93 has been around for years!!!! My grandma even has it still programmed in her car next to STAR, MAGIC and GOSPEL. I asked a friend down there if he likes 92.5 and he said they were better than Z, but he listens to Z's morning show. BTW, I'm coming home this weekend to see what both stations sounding like. BTW, are there any tv commericals for The Box and has STAR did any adjustments to there music?

As for the concert, that would be so nice, but considering STAR 99.7 doesn't do one I doubt it. Anything would be better that Z93's "Stone Soul Picnic", but thats like the only concert with hip-hop acts annually besides club appearances. Long time ago I was told it's hard to book Hip-Hop concerts in Charleston. The reason being was people don't spend much money down there. I always noticed when a national tour goes on, Charleston gets by pass but Columbia and Greenville will get picked up.

You know I was wondering the same thing about the TV commercials and I haven't seen any for THE BOX. But I know back in the day when I lived in Nashville 101.1 The Beat (WUBT) had commercials for promotion back in 2001. As for STAR music they seem to have the R&B side of things on lock I have them programmed in my car. And as for the concert thing I lived in Greenville for most of my life before coming to Charleston and Greenville did always get the nationwide tours. But 107.3 JAMZ has been running the upstate for years eventhough they have switched to mainly R&B, they still have a huge presence in the upstate and are pretty well known to the R&B artists, but I was just back in Greenville for mother's day and boy do they need a Hip-Hop station bad.

Greenville DOES need a hip-hop or Mainstream Urban station. I'm no expert in the format, and probably wouldn't even listen, but it's the biggest hole the market has. Jamz is the ONLY (not 98.1!) station targeted at the Urban audience. Everybody here is so set in their ways that they don't want to change anything. I'm trying to think of another market around here that just has one Urban-type station other than Asheville (that doesn't have one)...can't think of one, anybody know? It could definitely be supported and would be a nice shakeup. Actually, I say do it on 93.3. They are the lowest rated class C in the market and would have much more potential with hip hop/Urban than the 3 shares they get.

Poor Greenville needs a hip-hop choice so bad. 107.3 Jamz sounds horrible. I can't tell if they're Urban or Urban AC with Tom Joyner and Michael Baisden. HOT 98.1 sounds just as bad too! It's like a station of wanna be hip jocks that read liners about the artist they play (ex sister station 95.5 The Beat/ATL).

Yeah, 1073 Jamz is all over the place. They need some competition. They were the highest ranked station in the country last year though, probably bc they're the only choice.
