I meant to say last week that the morning DJ, who owns the station, played "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" for that song's 40th anniversary. He occasionally plays some country songs that aren't crossover and the station runs commercials for the Grand Ole Opry. I don't know what this means exactly, but he said he played that song wherever he worked when it was first popular, and he had interviewed Charley Pride many times.
I heard a song this morning on Jeff Rollins' show that really doesn't belong. It followed Dean Martin's "Return to Me" which has those sexy backup singers that can hit those really high notes. I looked up the song, whose title I can't remember now, and aside from the fact the song has some soft vocals that would fit, the only justification seems to be that Frankie Valli sings it. Which would seem to allow "Grease", another song that has no business in this format. But what's really wrong is the loud instrumentals where there are no words.
