Great songs that were Top 40 hits that you never hear on the radio

Almost everything if not everything is on CD that has been listed. I've got most of it and have some friends like my buddies John Creech,Bill Benjamin,John Jordan,Doug Moreland,Bill Cozart and others who have this music.I could have it together and on the air in all its digital glory in a week. Some would get it,some would not but I could assure you it would be the talk of this market. There is no reason a format like this couldn't get a 5 share.Find me some good salespeople, give me a little promotions budget and let's roll...I am not the smartest guy around but this has tremendous potential.Consultants would crap a 2x4 because it would disprove all the bunk they have forcefed radio stations with for so long. Will anyone ever have the guts before it is too late????

AMEN! I will contribute the iMediaTouch automation system as I am loading right much of it in there recently. I also have the on-air processing, it's not as expensive as an Optimod or Omnia, but you wouldn't know the difference. It was FREE. Now all we need is a tower and a transmitter... ;D

I'm with you on this Allen..Is there anyway someone can assimilate the list of all the posts someway , maybe by artist or alpha or something ..to see if we repeat anything?? I know there must be some kind of sorting program that can do this...Also, at one time I saw a website thatyou could check avaiable frequencies in the area with the proposed wattage and pattern. Does anyone recall where that is? Thanks APE!

Yes, I have assimilated the list up to my last update about the "database" which is nothing more than everything that everyone(including myself)'s posts or lists. It is currently listed by song title and it is sorted alphabetically as such with any duplicates removed. It is in Excel format. If you want a copy just let me know and I will email it to you.

I'm not sure on the site, but last I heard the FCC has stopped bidding on any open frequencies. I had learned a few years ago about 107.3's (which now The Promise has that one here in Rocky Mount) availability from the FCC site. I would say anything larger than 25,000 watts would be good, but it could be done on a 6,000 watter.

Ok the database is up to 851 songs now including these...

YMCA/Village People
Macho Man/Village People
In The Navy/Village People
Timothy/Buoys
Time Out of Mind/Steely Dan
Thunder Island/Jay Ferguson
Three Times In Love/Tommy James
This Could Be The Night/Loverboy
Burning Bridges/Mike Curb Congregation
In America/Charlie Daniels Band
Still In Saigon/Charlie Daniels Band
Love Or Let Me Be Lonely/Paul Davis
I.O.U./Jimmy Dean
Teddy Bear/Red Sovine
CB Santa Claus/Richard Gillis (yes this is a Christmas one but you don't hear it anymoreat Christmastime)
Still Crazy After All These Years/Paul Simon
One Trick Pony/Paul Simon
You Cna Call Me Al/Paul Simon
Wake Up Little Susie/Simon and Garfunkel
Lovely One/Jacksons
Music Box Dancer/Frank Mills
I know What Boys Like/The Waitresses (an MTV hit I beleieve)
I Want Candy/Bow Wow Wow (not Top 40 but a huge MTV hit)
Waiting for A Star To Fall/Boy Meets Girl
Oh Girl/Boy Meets Girl
Get Used To It/Roger Vouldouris
Right Time Of The Night/Jennifer Warnes

104.7 is a 25,000 with a potential upgrade to 50,000.Ron Benefield owns it.He is doing a lease/split deal with a Spanish broadcaster. It is being run out of the old WRQR/WGHB studios in Farmville. That may be the best available signal right now...

I can do that..

few more:

Tubes- Don't Want to Wait Anymore
Ivan Neville- Not Just Another Girl
New England- Don't Ever Wanna Loose Ya
Tom Johnston- Savannah Nights
Tycoon- Such a Woman
Squeeze- Hourglass/853-5937
Waterfront -Cry
Jody Watley- Don't You Want Me/Real Love

Some of the songs I listed charted on the lower side of the top 40, but I still heard them on the radio. I guess now spins are the main factor if something is a "hit".

Thanks for the time!
