WKSW move to Enon approved

101.5 in Seattle is KPLZ, a Hot AC. The Seattle Click's competition. As is Kiss 106.1, a CHR there. Probably why Seattle Click registered that bogus twitter. In case some confused listener thought 101.5 was actually Click.

From Radio Insight.com:

101.5 Clicking Into Dayton
Main Line Broadcasting’s “Kiss Country 101.7” WKSW Urbana, OH is on the verge of completing its move-in to the Dayton market along with a frequency shift to 101.5, a new city-of-license in Enon, OH, and a new format.

The station will become “Click 101.5” with an Modern AC format similar to the recently launched KLCK-FM Seattle. Click1015.com was registered anonymously in late February, however the Twitter account @click1015 features a listing for the Dayton area while trying to mask itself as being connected to the aforementioned KLCK-FM.

We’ve also heard from a contributor that the new format was inadvertently playing on the station’s webcast for a bit yesterday.

xmusicmatt, I am confused at your public display of asking kiss-country on their fb page?? What do you expect them to do?? It is not like they are going to tell the competition their intentions before they do it. That is like asking the police to tell where there are doing a drug bust before hand.
Point,we all know something is up. We all know it will sooner rather than later, so sit back and enjoy the show. Very interesting it is but no need to bug them about it as they will not divulge anything until THEY (mainline) is ready. Period.

Kiss country is now back on the streaming feed that did have click 1015 on it. The feed has static, like it is off the air.
I will say this is interesting to see every ones opinion on this.
Listen to 101.5 and 101.7 tomorrow. If there is a switch I think it will be sooner than later. It could be they are testing things out. So listen up.... I believe sooner rather than later!

Main Line Broadcasting made a mistake by streaming their new format stream and/or an astute observation by engineer_dude last night?

Click 101.5...it is their online stream on www.radiotime.com. Alternative? Why?

Now the cat is out of the bag for this closely guarded secret? This sounds to good to be true.

They are still running spots for a May 7 KISS Country promotion. Maybe they won't change formats until after May?

If this new "Click" format is what goes on 101.5, then it sounds like it will be more competition for Mix 107.7 and Channel 9-4-5. I am a fan of any station that plays today's hits minus the old stuff. I'm willing to bet that if this format goes on 101.5 that they'll continually attack Mix on the air for playing the old stuff.
I also wonder if they'll be an announcement about the format change or if they'll just go straight into it like Radio One did with the WING-FM to Hot 102.9 format change. We'll see.

I guess this means you can kiss country goodbye! :D

Where are the Kiss Country DJs? Listening to the stream for the past few hours and haven't heard one live announcer.

Do they normally run jockless or have they diapered from the station already in anticipation of the impending format change and move to the Dayton
studios?

Finally am hearing their "Afternoon Drive" DJ.

They say they are having a "live remote" this Saturday. Doubt they will switch this week if a customer had paid for a live remote on Saturday.

If they have diapered, the new format is going to appeal to the under 18 month crowd.

Meant to say have the DJs disappeared over at KISS Country? Spell check error, sorry.

BobOnTheJob , do you know why they have yet to make the move to 101.5? WNKO-FM, east of Columbus at101.7 wants to turn on their new tower site which is closer to Columbus but they won't until WKSW vacates the frequency. WNKO-FM has already built their new site and it's ready to go.
I ask because you have an Radio Engineering background.

Just heard Lee Riley on a little after 5 PM today(March 24th, 2011).
I also heard Main Line will be moving WKSW to 101.5...in about 1,015 years.

I'm not completely sold on this station being a near carbon copy of the Seattle station. I think it might turn out to have more of an Adult CHR lean -- similar to Sophie @ 103.7 in San Diego and Play 98.7 in Tampa.

Try this on for size: Let's say for the sake of entertainment, kiss stays country but on 102.9. Hot moves to 92.9 and fly turns into click on 101.5 . 92.1 could be oldies since 106.5 is weak south of town. By moving kiss to 102.9, they retain Clark and Champaign counties (their loyal listeners and add base) and it gives them the signal needed to go up against k99.1. Will they destroy them? NO. Can they eat at enough of their listeners to add value to kiss country 102.9? Absolutely. Say a 4.5-6.5 share if the right investment is made in the product. Plus they can expand on their add base and make up for the ones that leave.

Will this happen? Who knows of mainline has thought that much into their overall Dayton portfolio. It may stay the same but on 101.5 it may be click 101.5. Why turn kiss to click 101.5 with mix, lite fm and to boot compete against fly? To me it makes no sense. But then what does when decisions are made by others. It is amusing to see every ones reaction that's for sure.

Also want to add there have been comments about the lack luster performance of kiss in the ratings. (And no I do not work for them) The dynamics of the metro has changed since their 3 share days. Clark county is no longer the second largest county by population, Greene county is, Clark is third. The signal for kiss gets weaker and weaker the further south of Clark county you go. So that plays into it and what about who gets a diary? If it is a young in, bet they are not listening to a lot of country. All of this is present in the decline of K in the ratings as well. Couple that with less day parts and stations that are automated jukeboxes with out what makes radio unique. It's ability to connect one on one with you, yes you not the "city" of or region, but you. As the technology gets better, computer voices will to. But they can never connect one on one with you and reach out to you. All they can do is make the bottom line look better for the senior management.
Point Kiss is top i it's home turf, for whatever you think K does not beat them in their home counties. So why would you not want that in your arsenal if you are going into their home turf??

This is a pretty bizarre turn of events. One would think that WNKO can proceed based on the FCC paperwork that indicates the move has indeed happened. The fact that they can't (or won't?) proceed makes one wonder if they aren't aware of what's going on behind the scenes. Crazy story...hopefully one day the logic involved will be revealed.

10-4 on the spelling error...it was just too tempting of a target....couldn't resist :) .

Just tuned in.... they're broadcasting on 101.5 playing random country/classic rock from what it seems.... looks like the flip will happen sometime today (Friday).
