WLYT Changes Calls To WLKO - The Lake102.9

I mentioned on the Variety Hits board that at many times, Simon is almost a classic hits station. Makes sense since there isn't one in the market.
On the site where I get my Arbitron ratings they say it is classic hits. I reported it but the man has his own opinions and now there isn't even a way to report mistakes. At least he corrected WEZV in Myrtle Beach, which was listed as soft AC--but so was WJXA in Nashville. And it still is, even though it is like most ACs.

Meanwhile back at the Lake.... I don't think anyone has mentioned "The Lake" is jockless and will probably stay that way. Meanwhile I hear some of my old co-workers are teaching at the local broadcasting school. My question is: Why? Seems like the "air personality" "DJ" or whatever you choose to call them are going the way of the fireman (the guy in charge of keeping the fire going on steam engine trains) on the railroads.

Looks like if you want a career in radio it will be in sales or maybe IT keeping the servers playing the hits! :(

I know NPR 90.7 is sometimes needing journalists. As far as D.J.'s, I agree.. it's a dead field due to all that computer jukebox software.

I.T careers in radio are also tough...
